Brenda Starrr Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Do you tan during the warmer months? Or, do you keep your gothy whiteness all year long? Just curious.
Goth Brooks Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I'm pale because I'm irish/norwegian. SPF100 is my friend.
Nienna Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Noooooo... Highest SPF I can find.... all year round actually. I burn if I think about sun exposure without mega protection.
Lilith Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I lay out when i can and i wear as little as possible to gethe sun on most parts of my skin, I have a good amount of italian in me so i get a nice olive/honey color. Lestat almost turns Black, and the kids are all water/sun fiends. lilith
Onyx Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Now I try never to tan. I did unfortunately tan a lot in my teens and have the wrinkles and precancerous areas to prove it. Tanned skin is damaged skin.

DarkChylde Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! *goes hide in my coffin* :fear :laughing
TearSandrille Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I stock the sunscreen like it's going out of style.
Brenda Starrr Posted May 9, 2005 Author Posted May 9, 2005 I tan a little because it keeps my skin clear. I had stopped for a really long time, but this tends to keep my skin in check without drying me out. I've used so many other things that dry me to the bone.
ManicQueen Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I don't purposely tan but with the job I'm in I usually get a nice hillbilly tan on my arms. It's terrible! I bring my big ass bottle of sunscreen to work and soak my arms and face, but it does no good.
pixiefae Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Whatever sun I get is from being outside, not from purposefully tanning. I take after my mom, so freckles tend to be large, and i use sunblock religiously.
lullaby1031 Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I never fake n' bake or lay out in the sun to tan. The most sun I get is if I'm outside doing yard work or laying on a lawn chair drawing. Even then I have to wear sunscreen cuz I look like a lobster if I don't.
Nightflyerswmn Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 i try to tan from laying out in the sun for the most part in the summer, but in the spring I lay in the tanning beds so I don't burn to a crisp on the bike trip we take every year. As a matter of fact, I'm going as soon as I get off work today.
TomCat Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 This is an oxymoron. Kinda like military intelligence and good bad news.
paradox Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 with my job, i cant avoid the infamous 'Farmer Tan w/ Window Arm'.
Head Wreck Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 being the token non gothy type. im not overly fussed on being tanned. but i'm not scared of the sun. doesnt mean i go out without the min reconmended SPF
Vater Araignee Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Sun = plague welding = sun hard to stay pale when you weld for a living and italian and amerindian make up 40% of your gene pool, but I try.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 "Goths and Tanning" :laughing Thats sort of like "Wicked Witch of the East and Water" right?
Daevion Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Tanning? gawwd no, thats definite skin abuse. The only radiation I get to much of is from the computer monitor.
Guest MsMaldoror Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 I couldn't tan if I wanted to, and yes, I've tried in the past. I burn, even with protection. But, at least staying out of the sun has kept me from getting wrinkles .
Fierce Critter Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 I would prefer NOT to tan, and NEVER seek out a tan. But I can't stand the feel or smell of tanning lotion, and live a pretty active outdoor life in the summer - fishing, camping, etc. So I end up with a gradual, mild tan by default. I always have silly, unattractive tan lines, too. Always tanned from mid-thigh down and white from midthigh up due to wearing jean shorts 99% of the time. And until I discovered flip-flops again, my feet had horrible, patchy Columbia sandal tans. Last year, my husband and I were fishing out on a pier in the ocean, and hadn't thought to bring sunblock. Jon went shirtless, and at one point I looked over and was horrified to see his back was covered in tiny blisters. I'd never seen anything like that before, and the carnage when they all started popping was just disgusting. Sun BAD.
Senay Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Sun+Senay= Crisped like bacon. I have no choice in the matter. My skin simply doesn't tan. Drives me up the freakin' wall when I see the tv ads for the fake tanning lotion... "You just look so much HEALTHIER and YOUNGER..." Grrrr. How is that not offensive to people who are naturally pale? What if it were the reverse? "Brand new skin lightening lotion! Everyone looks better with lighter skin! So c'mon all you darkies out there, buy this crap. Wouldn't wanna look like a LOSER now would you?" Heh, I've actually seen people pointing out to their to friends how pale my legs are. My sister who is just as pale as me won't wear shorts because of that. Those people can kiss my lily white ass.

TomCat Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 I tan like an ant under a magnifying glass on a sunny day. :fear
Head Wreck Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 i'd love to be naturally pale. but as a blonde i'm naturally very erm... pink. and not the cool pink. and i cant really avoid the sun when on patroll, hillwalking, archery or sword practice... all very outdoor sports. fopr the most part i keep covered (short pants should be made illegal), long loose sleaves. got quite a thick head of hair whic helps with keeping sun off my neck. i'm not a hat person tbh either
