Oh thank GOD.....

I had to wait a couple days to post anything, because I risked getting too excited while typing and leaking some confidential info; CRUXSHADOWS STAYED AT MY HOTEL WHILE THEY WERE IN TOWN!!!

I went in to work Sunday night and got to hang out with Johanna in the lobby for most of the night because she had too much coffee and didn't want to keep her roommates up, a well as Jen and Valerie for a little bit.

Marmee and I had front & Center, along with Jarmana and Christy. Awesome show, sans the (agreed) lack of backup vocals. I'm not the biggest fan of Ayria, but Heather and I both LOVED I:Scintilla. Cruxshadows were better than I remember from when I saw them at the Lab, David is doing a HELL of a job as Rachel's replacement on Violin.

wow - right there at your hotel! How fun!

I do love the new violinists too, both of them. Seems the band just keeps getting better (at least for my taste). I was very happy with the performance.

Edited to add -- I feel so very very fortunate to have been able to see them in such an intimate small club and get close enough to actually hear their voices without amplification. It always puzzles me how there aren't huge crowds here like there are overseas. Here they are in Beijing - amazing. (though I am so happy for their success, selfishly I'm happy that I didn't have to deal with a crowd like that here).

She was a total sweetheart; they all were. They were more than happy to go back to their rooms to bring down their own silver sharpies when I wanted to get Marmee's Jacket signed for her, but only had a black one to go on a black jacket.

Ayria was amazing, as expected. I am so glad I went to this show, even though it meant missing the biggest part of Exotica.. It was most excellent. I got to talk with Jennifer some and it was very fun talking with her about seeing her play Osaka - I don't think she expected to find someone who had been there! XD This was my first real exposure to Cruxshadows and I was very pleasantly surprised. I knew only the one song, Marilyn, which I actually don't care for too much, but then in the show it turned out that I knew about 2-3 others that I never knew were them, which were quite good. Pretty flippin impressive with the Billboard thing too. What was very impressive was Rogue(?)'s endurance - I wouldn't be that personable and performance-intensive with an 103 fever!! I Scintilla was pretty good too. The only complaint I had the whole night (other than my horrible headache which just can't be helped) was the big gaggle of girls standing front middle in front of me laughing loudly and talking to each other and being pretty much just annoying during Ayria's set....I know you're there for the Cruxshadows, and you want to get and protect your space in front middle, but please appreciate some of us are there for the band you are currently disrupting and don't be horribly rude, thank you. Le sigh. But overall it was a great show, met a lot of friends there, saw a lot of DGNers, bought some merch, and then went to City! Great night! :D:D

Sorry to say and sure as hell not going to be shy about it... But I think Ayria SUCKED on the grand scale of barbie doll/ Britney and trying way to damn hard... Not to mention the drummer was using practice pads with acoustic pick ups.... Damn I think I went blind for a second being front and center with all the crystals she had glued to her mic and well anything else that glue and crystals can stick. to
