One good thing about the Wall Street bailout?

Seems that, while other things were getting tucked into the bailout to garner votes ("pork"), someone slipped in a provision that made it illegal for health insurance companies to discriminate and/or refuse to provide care for at least some forms of mental illnesses.

What it actually does is require equal coverage for mental health. Same as any other illness. It makes it so insurance companies cant limit amount of visits, coverage for meds, things like that.

The negative effect that might have would be a jump in premiums. But for people that need the coverage, that's *very* good news. Maybe a few companies will decide to be human and not pass on the cost to their workers....

Seriously?

We maxxed out my daughter's mental health coverage in June and have been paying out of pocket ever since. $225 - $400 a visit depending on who she sees and why.

That is SUCH good news for us. I'd even be willing to take a hike in our insurance premium for it as long as it's not HUGE.
