Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Why should I vote for Obama? Now, like the other thread... give reasons for voting for Obama, not reasons for not voting for McCain. Also, Bush is not in this election, so no need to bring him or his administration up. Also, if you use the word Change, please, define it.
Homicidalheathen Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 cause nadar cant run a country in a war situation, and mccain sux...is this a trick question...will i be tested later? did i get a gold star?
phee Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 A reason amongst others He seems to not panic and crack under pressure.... that is a big one for me, having a person who seems to have their head about them in times of crises and end up making rash decisions. From what I have seen in his presentations and debates and I like how he has cool headedness. Another thing I like about him is the fact that he was active in community service... One of the things that he has going for him as well IMO is exactly what some people criticize him for.... His lack of experience.... I have seen what the people who have been in Washington have done to the country... and the fact that he might have a fresh perspective, or at the very least be less corrupted by his time in the goverment I see as a plus.
Nevar (5) Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I would'nt and here's why: The last thing we need to do is continue paying, let alone pay more in taxes to the lazy people to sit on there ass and bitch rather then finding a job, food stamps ok, people with real disabilities ok, not 300 pound fat fucks to lazy too loose weight, which is at a all time high or women that just shit out kids for the benifits. also it would be nice if half of the country was'nt voting for him just because he's black. And maybe if he had a plan on how, rather then an idea on what, then i might consider it. Oh and he has Continuously changed his background to appeal the the crowd, in which he does'nt seem too stable too me.
Oh_My_Goth Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 He is a better representative for the country..... He is an educated and articulate man, and I feel that is important..... I am not particularly fond of either candidate, but I feel he is the better choice Seeing as McCain is an idiot....IMO

Good to know I'm the only one who's noticed Obama for saying "Change this, Change that" without saying what he's going to do to back it up.

SaGa Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 i made a socialism thread to find out how many who are voting for obama are also socialists. it kinda died. im not assuming, but was curious
sass_in_the_pants Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 i made a socialism thread to find out how many who are voting for obama are also socialists. it kinda died. im not assuming, but was curious Philosophically, Obama is probably the closest to socialist as anyone has ever been on a major party ticket. Though, when I talk to people about it, they don't identify themselves as socialists, but then they support socialist programs. Go figure.

Azeuron Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 ALL HAIL HYPNOTOAD!!!!!!! ps sorry for the slight thread jacking
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 I'm not getting a lot of reasons to vote for Obama. OMG and phee.. the rest are anti-Obama.. which is not what I wanted.
n0Mad Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I think Azeuron has the most convincing (and accurate) post so far.
SaGa Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 i think the dgn polls have shifted. think we should repoll again .
phee Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I'm not getting a lot of reasons to vote for Obama. OMG and phee.. the rest are anti-Obama.. which is not what I wanted. The rest of mine? Or the rest of what others have said....
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 You and OMG are the only ones that have given reasons to vote for Obama, the rest of the posts are Anti-Obama or reasons to not vote for McCain. I don't want comparisons to Bush, McCain or the Republican party in general. I don't want to hear about Biden or Palin. I don't want to hear about any third party candidates. I don't want people to just talk about "Change". To me, Obama and his followers have so over used that word as to make it hollow and meaningless. Suddenly bursting into white hot flame is change. Give me something substantial that makes me want Obama's "Change". Convince me. Give me real and substantive reasons reasons to trust this man with the controls to the juggernaut that is our Federal Government. Some other points, that you may want to avoid: 1. He is not a fucking Muslim. STFU about that already. a. According to Sharia Law, he is a Muslim by Birth-Right. His father was a Muslim who had lost faith and did not practice Islamic faith systems. That does not erase Obama's faith and the way he has practiced it for most of his life. 2. He is not a Domestic Terrorist. a. His connections to William Airs mean he has bad judgment when it comes to picking friends. Thats it, though it does have connotations to his over all judgment. I will get the wording right yet...
phee Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Ah thanks for clearing that up.... I thought you meant that I had not stated reasons to vote for him lol
Homicidalheathen Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 its cause WE NEED HEALTHCARE and people who do need ssi or wealfare, actually NEED it, are being denied... i think there are more people shifting to socialism styled goverment then what the true polls are. most just dont know theres a word for that belief. or think socialism is communism automaticly. obama can openly denounce free market. and his polls are still very good. leads me to believe the majority are either to ignorant to really know obama beyond a cult of personality, or are for socialism PS i have nothing against socialism, its a fine system if no one was greedy or aspired to be rich. or wanted to have power to munipulate the system
asphyxian_doll Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I'm voting for Obama because he still believes in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose. He has fought for the veterans of his state to get the benefits they deserved, and shows diligence. I like to watch his body language, he is very upright and confident, and I agree with phee, I like how he keeps his composure, and you can definitely tell he thinks before he speaks. That is an extremely good attribute for any politician. Only issue with me, is he hasn't shown any intention to end America's addiction to WAR. But, still is the best candidate IMO. As far as change, I have seen his avid enthusiasm supporting civil rights, and also supporting further research into woman's health, and for me that is HIGHLY important to me. There are a lot more dynamics to Obama's campaign that I agree with, but these are just some of what I have assessed so far.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 its cause WE NEED HEALTHCARE and people who do need ssi or wealfare, actually NEED it, are being denied... Why do we need to have 5% of the population pay for the other 95%'s Health Care costs? Why not just make them affordable?
asphyxian_doll Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Why do we need to have 5% of the population pay for the other 95%'s Health Care costs? Why not just make them affordable? right on....I agree
phee Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Why do we need to have 5% of the population pay for the other 95%'s Health Care costs? Why not just make them affordable? Just curious (and I don't have the figure on this) Where is the wealth right now, is it with the 5% who would be paying? In other words should those who have most of the money have more of an obligation to pay for what the nation needs? (as a lot of them make money because of the work you and I do for them). A question not an opinion
Guest Megalicious Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 its cause WE NEED HEALTHCARE and people who do need ssi or wealfare, actually NEED it, are being denied... If we didn't have people abusing the system, the resources would be there for the people that need it. As for a social form of healthcare no thank you ... If I get cancer I want to be able to have surgery right away if needed, not sit on a waiting list while I am in pain and pretty much dying. Even if its leaves me in debt, at least I will be alive. Back to the subject at hand, I really don't know why you should vote for Obama Gaf, that is a very personal choice. I have been going through, issue to issue, policy to policy and still feel a bit undecided. I think I am going to end up for Obama just because of his stance on education, McCain isn't very strong on his education stance, and well, I think education of our youth is probably the MOST important thing. Look at where we are, its sad. We have this idea in america that Mediocrity is OK , that needs TO CHANGE. And soon, or the rest of the world is going to leave us in the dust.
