Picasso, Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Dali and Matisse. The list of artists goes on and on as the Detroit Institute of Arts proudly presents the special exhibition Monet to Dalí: Modern Masters from the Cleveland Museum of Art. See seventy-five ground-breaking works by these masters of modern art, now through January 18. Monet to Dali is proudly sponsored by Bank of America. The new DIA. Let yourself go!

I am not going to miss this. I don't care how lost I get trying to find the museum with all the construction, lol. I am starting to get to know my way around a little bit, now. I will be looking for an available time to go sometime after Thanksgiving. Damn, my schedule is so hectic! I think I want to go twice (at least). Once for me to enjoy, and another time with the girls because I think exposing them to such things is important.

When do you think should we should aim for?????

I suppose when Msterbeau gets back, whenever that is. December I think?

I know Boshy would be totally down for this and also Pestilence. I had a field trip to the DIA last semester, but had to leave REALLY early because I was massively sick, and he seemed a little disappointed that we didn't get to see much (as was I).

Waitaminute...did you just dub me event planner?

Well, as one of the three more socialite mods around DGN, I suppose I do maybe have an obligation .

BUT...Msterbeau sounded like he really wanted to go, so I must wait for him to respond to this so I can see when he's getting back.

For anyone that's interested in going: What day of the week is best for you? How about we start there...but I dub OMG as the OTHER event planner and people pusher, since it was her idea initially .

If your going expecting to see some Dali, don't. There is only ONE.

Very disappointing.

That is disappointing. Thanks for the warning. I will still go, bit at least I am forewarned and not frantically searching for what I missed, because there was only one.

I still want to go too. :) I love art.. *smiles*

I have a membership that admits four. I'm glad to share it. It works for ticketed special events too, but I need to make the reservations in advance--this isn't ticketed, though, is it?

I just saw the commercial for it the other day. I totally need to go to this.

You can get free passes to the DIA at your local library...if you have a library card.

I'm planning on checking this out with my family soon.

FYI: If you live in Oakland or Wayne county, pick up a museum pass at your local public library. You can get 4 people into the DIA for FREE with the pass. You still have to pay to see special exhibits, but it will save you some $$.

Actually, the A2 library has passes, but I think they're the only ones in the Library Network coop in Washtenaw county.
