Head Wreck Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 if i had an island, with its own means of support, where generally the most open minded and intelligent people could emigrate to. we'd still be arguing over petty differances and soon turn to parties of "i'm right and your wrong and thats all there is to it"
Destroit Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I've come to realize that it's an unavoidable part of the human condition, it's just that some people seem to be worse than others.
Rev.Reverence Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 ...that is why there has to be a fight club...it could replace courts... ...& saturday nights...we'll all goto CC instead of church sunday morning...(we'll have to transport it somehow)

taysteewonderbunny Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 people are open minded? where? Where someone else has already scalped them.
Head Wreck Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 oh that'd be the screaming bolshevic socialist students society that every collage and university has oh, and i scalp them myself
StormKnight (1) Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Being open minded isn't the problem. It's keeping it open admist all adversity, peer pressure, social force to conform, and the need to belong closing it that is the trick. So, in the end, it comes down to a force of will against those that would have us conform to other ideals. Just remember, when you start to act like the enemy, you become the enemy; all it takes is too much strength of will and we become intolerant.
Hellion Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I figured and have come to a conclusion long ago that most people suck, because they want to be someone that they are not,and I only socialize with people who are themselves, and what HW said earlier we should have an island for the advancement of smart open minded non fake society.
Head Wreck Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 but as my earlier post stated i belive this would soon descend into an us and them scenario
TygerLili Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 No one is completely open-minded about everything. Like it or not, we all have our prejudices. I agree with your point, though, people will always argue. In a lot of situations that's not a bad thing. How boring would the world be if everyone agreed on everything?
n0Mad Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I disagree, and here's why: http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=24290
Hellion Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I never said open minded on "everything"being open minded does not always mean excepting everything which I don't,example I hate bleeding hearts and molesters.
cptdeath Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 In my experience when people say open minded. I'ts because they want to get into that mind and plant some ideal or something. if the mind is open it's so it can be influenced by the opener (exterior force). alot of religous types like to say "keep an open mind" then it gets to " but what if your wrong? what if I'm right?" and were is their open mind, huh? open mind can be a very dangerous situation. You allow people to make you question your beliefs on their behalf. Don't do that for people unless there willing to listen to you with said open mind without interuption or argument. cause then you learn if you should repect that persons beliefs or disrespect them when they have no respect for yours. tolerance and a conversation about sports is the best alternative to the open mindedness. you got to show some leadership and you can't allways do that with an open mind. gonna be stupid you gotta be tough.
