DarkenedCharm Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 I have auditioned for this band in Detroit, right? They uploaded a couple of songs for me to get started with, so that when I get there, I will be practiced up and ready to go. Unfortunately, they did not make the songs available for me to download...Only to play while online (Or save to favorites to make available offline.). Well, for one reason or another, my computer decided it would be funny to delete these "Available offline" sites from my browser. Now, not only can I not work with the songs offline, I can't even get the pages to load. Fucking 56k!!! I am NOT happy right now. Any suggestions? I have asked for a CD, but the band is so new yet, that I will be on the first one when it is recorded. The music is complicated enough that I HAVE to have the music to play along with.
Brenda Starrr Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Need a hug? DC, this should be moved to the music forum. Would you be offended if I had it moved there?
DarkenedCharm Posted May 15, 2005 Author Posted May 15, 2005 Not at all. I just figured it is a problem I am having. Granted, it is music related, but only in the fact that the problem I am having involves something musical. I was thinking it was more computer and internet related than anything else...Which is why I put it in the "Other Stuff" Didn't know where else it should go. And yes. A hug would be wonderful.
Brenda Starrr Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 it's okay. For all I know, someone else might think that it should stay here. I'm sorry I don't have any actual advice for you, though. =(

Not much pisses me off more than the little quirks of technology.
DarkenedCharm Posted May 15, 2005 Author Posted May 15, 2005 *Reaches around and grabs Brenda's ass* No worries. That made things better.
SomeDanGuy Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 I'm confused about these songs. Were/are they posted at some site? Were they only up temporarily or something? Would it be of any use for one of us with cable to download and send them to you?
Onyx Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 what happens if you right click 'em? Sometimes that works and will allow a download rather than opening them up to play. (Likely you've already tried this).

I cannot download them and save them as I would a normal song.
Fierce Critter Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 One way I've found to get around this is to hook-up an external recording source, or use a wav recorder (like Goldwave) to record the song as it's streaming/playing. Just a thought.
SomeDanGuy Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Is that because they are streaming only? Or something more bizzare and complicated? (The reason I'm asking is because I have a program that will record streaming files to the hard drive as regular files)

Just a thought. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a possibility, I hadn't thought of that. I ahve never used a wav recorder tho, so I wouldn't even know if I have one installed...LOL
SomeDanGuy Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 This program claims it's free to try. I just found it through google though, so I know nothing about it. But it claims to record and sound streaming through your sound card to a file
Fierce Critter Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 Most of the older machines came with them - any simple recorder should work. If not, download goldwave - it's the shit. Plenty of trial versions out there (and crackz too, if you're so inclined).
DarkenedCharm Posted May 15, 2005 Author Posted May 15, 2005 Dan, I am downloading your player first... FC, I will try yours after that... At 56k, it is taking forever tho...LOL
SomeDanGuy Posted May 15, 2005 Posted May 15, 2005 If you send me a link, I can try it out and send the song to you if it works. I am uber-bored at the moment
DarkenedCharm Posted May 15, 2005 Author Posted May 15, 2005 I got it, guys. Thank you so much for your help. I downloaded both recorders, just to have...But I found out that it was just a simple case of 56k impatience. :blushing I am used to cable. I had to get rid of my machine with the ethernet port, and this one doesn't have one.

DarkChylde Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Umm...Just being curious, but...How do you know I'm a good musician? LOL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please pardon him, he's really new to the internet world and he's still in the process of getting the hang of it......Its hard to explain
Brenda Starrr Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Maybe he can just smell talent for miles and miles....
