Thanks for helping me make this decision. I'm going pick him up on Sunday afternoon. The little guy deserves a good home, and I can provide him with that.

This is Peanut, though I'm sure I'll change his name:

awwwww what a cute fuzzy lil feller

I just picked up the little guy this afternoon. He is so freakin' adorable. He climbed up my arm and ran down my shirt, where he's been sleeping for the past hour. Flying squirrels can be very affectionate and love being carried around all day. They'll sleep in your pockets or your shirt.

So, last Wednesday I went over to greyhalo's place to hang out and she introduced me to Peanut. As soon as she pulled him out of his cage, he ran up her shirt and tried to dive inside but she held close her neckline just in time. The critter looked around the room, and leaped into the air, spreading his gliders and sailing right towards me. He landed on my shirt and faster than I could react, he scurried on up and dove down through my neckline and started skittering around inside my shirt. I tried to get him out but he skittered around so much it tickled and all I could do was laugh. Eventually I had to pull my shirt off so greyhalo could retrieve the little guy and put him back in his cage. I've never been attacked by a killer flying squirrel of doom before but Peanut was just so adorable ... it was awesome!

I can probably hook you up. I think a baby flying squirrel would make a very nice X-mas present, don't you?

I second that.

I already have 2 girls. The boy I was offered is neutered. No babies. I'd want to keep them all anyway.

For those of you who don't know me very well, I also have a Brazilian (short tailed) opossum and 8 rats at home--along with the 3 cats and 2 squirrels.

!!!!!!!!!!

I WANNA POSSUM! I want one so bad, I even slipped on my grammar in that last sentence...possums & rats are my favorite animals.

I like the Australian possums. They're brown and really adorable.

greyhalo:

You...should get me one for Christmas.

Opossum

There are opossums and possums. We have Virginia opossums in the US and often incorrectly call them "possums." There are actually over 60 types of opossums in South America. The type of opossum I have is also known as a Brazilian opossum. On the other hand, possums are from Australia, and there are over 20 different types. Many can fit in the palm of your hand. Sugar gliders are of the genus Petauridae and are also considered possums.

OK, I'm starting to sound like jynxxxedangel does about spiders... :wink
