Ok so my tat is pretty much healed now and it needs minor touch up work. I'm not happy with the coloring and he missed filling in a few spots.

So I stopped in today on my way home and talked to him. The guy at the desk brought me back to his office and just like dumped me off there. The guy was with another girl working on a piece and asked me what was up. I told him and he asked to see my tat. I held my hand out and he like yanked it towards him looking at it. After I told him what I wanted and what would it cost. He looked me in my face and told me that he thought I was honestly being too nitpicky about it and just to leave it be. That it wasnt worth that much work.

WHAT>!!!

You're telling me Im being too nitpicky about a piece of work that is PERMANENT on MY body. Not to mention its HIS work that people will see.

Am I like being insulted for no reason or was he out of line? I plan to go somewhere else to get it taken care of now because I thought that was bullshit.

He should fix it. Or you can tell everyone his name, his shop, and to avoid him like the plague. Personally, I think he's already lost the opportunity to make it right. He fucked up and he's likely to only grudgingly do the corrective work. Not the best frame of mind. I'd let him and his shop know you won't be coming back and you'll be telling everyone you know not to go there. Then ask around for someone reputable.

Damn that was ricockulas.

when i got mine done i had a year to go in and have any touch ups i wanted free of cost

Thats another thing he told me. He'd have to charge me because I'd be making him open up all the stuff for just that little bit of work. I was like ok so what would the cost be? He couldn't settle on what it would cost.

My roomie is going to take me to the place she goes and see what they say.

I did send an email out to him just now letting him know my thoughts on the situation.

Avoid him like the plague like Marc said, every tattoo artist I know they offer touch ups for free on pieces they've done.

I'm the proud owner of 36 (soon to be 38) tattoos. EVERY one of my artists has guaranteed their work. You are being screwed over. If he refuses to fix his work, spread the word. Give ME his info as well, and I'll be sure to let the entire tattoo community know. I know people all over the U.S. Bad feedback will DESTROY an artist. He might as well just work tattoo parties....

His name is Korie and he works for Jim's Tattoo in Seabrook Nh.

Honestly when I went to him he was cool and made it seem ok. But something that did bother me was he stopped doing work on me to talk to some other girl about doing a piece for her. Mind you the needle was like a half inch away from my skin while he was talking to her. I thought that was rather odd.

Yea I don't plan on going back to him.

I'll post if he writes me back or not.

Thanks. I hate poor customer service. I'm not just paying for the art, but for their full, undivided attention. You deserve at LEAST that.

No Thank you :)

I've already begun to spread the word.

I wouldn't want someone that uncaring and rude to touch my body with a NEEDLE THAT CAN TRANSFER diseases...ya know?

Watch those packets if you get him to do you again, make sure they are fresh.

Or...go to someone else.

thanks for posting.

Unprofessional and just plain rude. I wouldn't go back to him, he obviously doesn't take pride in his work or take his customers seriously... so even if he agreed to do the touch-ups for free (which they should be), he's not likely to do a good job.

I've found many tattoo shops these days have about as much professional dedication and courtesy as 10-Minute Oil Change huts!

Too many ink shops always have a bunch of people (groupies of sorts) hanging around; the artists are constantly goofing off and using their jobs as an excuse for idle social interaction. Some even get high while on the clock. It's nice to be able to work at one's own pace, and being able to choose which commissions to take on, but SHEESH-- some of these artists are very immature, irresponsible, lackadaisical, and have no work ethic.

It's wise to go by the reference system, when choosing the correct artist for your piece. Excellent reviews, good word of mouth on the streets, and of course satisfactory results, are the best ways to judge a tattoo artist.

Ya'...touch ups are free unless stated otherwise...before a single thing gets opened...

...(& you should know your set up cost for your rig, PERIOD.)('bout $6-7 for ME...& they have bulk buying powers)...

...& the only time I won't guarantee a tat is 'cause it is HUGE...& I am working by session...(& I'm only a 'hobby' level artist)...

...I even touch up hands for free....(I've seen other artists refuse to guarantee hands & feet)...

...I think he did not think that you were worth his time to keep you as a happy customer. His loss.

GOOD LUCK ON THE TOUCH UP... & post a pic soon...eh?

Luckily, I don't go to those kinds of "artists." I only go to the serious and reputable. I do a TON of research.

File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

That's not right at all. Unfortunately, I had the same experience with a few tattoo "artists" when I first started getting inked. That's why I've been going to the same guy for the past 8 years. He's done 11 of my 18 pieces and I've been very happy with each one he's done.

You have to be careful, there are a lot of shitty artists out there that just want money and don't care about anything else.

Posted

Yea I dont plan on going back to him at all.

My friend has gone to the same guy for her three pieces I believe give or take and he's done really nice work.

Posted

I'm sorry you got screwed. Whatever good work he did before, his poor response in your case negates it.

I only have one tatt and I went to Inkslingers.

I'm with spook, especially if the tat was expensive/large. At least contact the better business bureau about it, if not actually make a complaint.

I get treated like crap at a lot of tattoo shops just cuz they can't see my tats and I'm a pretty and feminine *looking* chick.

As you guys know I'm glad to let people know where they can plan on getting AWFUL customer service (ahem, Artifice Clothing) and while we're on the subject..

Wonderland Tattoo in St Clair Shores gave me excellent service when I went in as a walk-in to get my first tat. They charged me less than they said originally, the guy was very calm and patient with me since I was all freaked out about the first time. I then tried to go to them to get my ex's back fixed for his birthday (he needed a few sessions done on a large tattoo--about $300 dollars or more). Every time I went back to talk to the same guy about the sessions he claimed he didn't remember the conversation we had had the day before about it, kept telling me different policies and jacking up the price. I set up an appointment (in person) to come in and talk to him in person and show him the tattoo that needed work (the next day) and he said he had never set up any appointments and he needed to leave... and just left. Take your big tattoo projects elsewhere, don't waist your time at Wonderland.

Oh, that shithole is right up the street from me. I've heard NOTHING but bad. I research EVERY new artist I go to. What an effin hole....

Hey Brenda, anyone you that you've talked to heard of the place I went to?

Posted

One of my tattoo artist friends has heard of him. That's about it.

Any artist that is not willing to touch up a piece is no good, especially if it is his own. I have many friends in the tattoo community...on both sides...and someone that is going to tell you that it's not worth it...when it's your body..and THEIR work...thats the kind of artist I want to punch in the face.
