Brenda Starrr Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Ok.... Thirteen years ago, I had a tubal ligation. Now, I know that these things don't last forever, but I never really kept that in the forefront of my mind. My period was due on 11/4. I'm typically only 2 days to a week late. Lately, I've been right on time. I also realize that I'm 43-years-old. But I have ALSO had no pre-menopausal symptoms. None. I don't feel like my period is coming. I'm bloated in a way that I haven't seen in forever (13 years), which is making anything I wear feel weird. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests, all of which came up negative. I work with a girl who took 5 home pregnancy tests, ALL of which came up negative. When she went to her doctor, they blew off the idea of taking a urine specimen. They took blood instead....VOILA! She is pregnant. I suppose I'm looking to see if anyone knows anyone who is close to my age who has been through the same, if not similar. Hell, it could come tomorrow morning for all I know. I know that I feel like shit, and I want to vomit right now.... Have at it, and be nice. I'm kinda moody.
Rev.Reverence Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 .....it could happen..... I'll not take a guess over the net, & even if I saw you, I have no prior reference of you...SO, it would be hard to tell right off. You should goto the doctor's if you are not with Moon by Monday...I figure
freydis Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Get a doctor to take blood to be sure. But, your change of life *could* have no symptoms. My mom's didnt. One day, she just stopped having periods. The end. She was told she was exceedingly lucky. But, given that you feel bloated and oogy, a blood test seems prudent.

I had my tubal ligation 4 years ago ... yeah, you don't want to know the rest. Home pregnancy tests never worked on me. Always blood until about the 5th month, THEN they'd work.

ManicQueen Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I had my TL done about 3 years ago and I remember my doctor telling me that the procedure wasn't 100% guaranteed and that pregnancies will and do happen. Soo.. ya never know. I'd say wait it out another week then make an appt.
TitsMcGee Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 If you are, I reserve the right to make you a baby quilt

Soo.. ya never know. I'd say wait it out another week then make an appt. Estimates are different according to your age at the time and when you have it done. Some doctors estimate as high as 10 out of every 200 women. (That's if your under 25 when you had it done and at the time of a c-section). If your older and have it done at least 48 hours after birth, your risk goes down considerably. I think it's more like 2 in 500 then. Actually, some of the stats I have seen lately, Depo-Provera is less risk.
bean Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I would get checked out by the doc to be safe. However, my mother's periods started getting irregular when she was either 43 or 44, with no pre-menopausal symptoms. She went through menopause pretty easily. Her only complaints were a few hot flashes here and there, but nothing else.
Brenda Starrr Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Yeah....false alarm. Nothing like being almost a whole month late, with a lot of the symptoms. Wishful thinking....
Rayne Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Yeah....false alarm. Nothing like being almost a whole month late, with a lot of the symptoms. Wishful thinking....

taysteewonderbunny Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Yeah....false alarm. Nothing like being almost a whole month late, with a lot of the symptoms. Wishful thinking.... So sorry. Sounds like you were really hoping so. It does happen though. I imagine, even with tubal ligation. I don't remember which of the cable channels I saw it on, but a woman who had stopped having periods seven years prior was pregnant and didn't even know it until she went into labor. She thought she was just having really bad back pain. Fortunately, even with the lack of prenatal care and her advanced years, her baby was totally healthy. Maybe you should see if you can get your TL reversed. It sounds like you really want a child. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get what you really want.

I'd say by the sound of her posts it seems like she'd rather just go through The Change (so evil I had to caps it) without any symptoms and get off scott free rather than anything else .

Well, whatever it is she wants, I hope she gets it. Fingers still crossed. At least one of us should get to the other side scott free, as you put it. (and I don't mean with a dearth of Spook, either.)
zenaleigh Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 could be menapause, my Mom started hers at 45, it lasted like 3 years.. when she first started, her periods were very irregular, sometimes lasting 2 weeks, long, then shed go 2 months without it

freydis Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Yeah....false alarm. Nothing like being almost a whole month late, with a lot of the symptoms. Wishful thinking.... Weird.... i had that last month. Then two weeks later another one. Very odd....

If a reversal wasn't about $7,000 and I were a few years younger, I would. I figure, if it was meant to happen, it would have... *sigh* I'd say by the sound of her posts it seems like she'd rather just go through The Change (so evil I had to caps it) without any symptoms and get off scott free rather than anything else . could be menapause, my Mom started hers at 45, it lasted like 3 years.. when she first started, her periods were very irregular, sometimes lasting 2 weeks, long, then shed go 2 months without it I was actually hopeful that I was pregnant.
