DJ Nocker Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Who went? Who had a good time? Who had a bad time? discuss! Personally I didnt enjoy myself, the music alone was enough to make me want to leave. I also thought that the rule saying you werent allowed in the play room unless you meet a certain dress code was ridiculous! you dont have to be goth to be kinky ( I didnt have this problem, someone I know did), I can understand a raised entry fee, but denied acess to the main point of going? Oh well. how was everyone elses night?

Oh well. how was everyone elses night? You did not have to dress goth to get into the play area, you had to be in fetish attire (they even gave a few suggestions) of some sort, or formal . It IS a FETISH party and that was a fetish play area. I saw plenty of non-goths enjoying themselves in the play area. It's too bad your friend didn't follow the advertised dress code, downstairs is where most of the action was.
n0Mad Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 You did not have to dress goth to get into the play area, you had to be in fetish attire There's a fetish for everything. I bet if I wore OshKosk B'Gosh overalls they wouldn't let me in, yet for some people that is a fetish. Sounds like more asshattery to me.
Head Wreck Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 an overall combined with a milking machine and a hat made out of doughnuts usually gets me in places

Exactly my point, some people may think its hot to dress up as vegetables and screw, but they wouldnt be allowed to play at that show, its ridiculous, and it wasnt like he was wearing prep clothes even, he was wearing a metal shirt and jeans...whatever i guess.

It is a 'comfort' thing..... & At a REAL fetish party.....Not this public crap.....You can go as yourself.....Although most of those people dress quite formal-ish
DJ Nocker Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 It is a 'comfort' thing..... & At a REAL fetish party.....Not this public crap.....You can go as yourself.....Although most of those people dress quite formal-ish Soo...when someone is damn near nude getting wax poured on them in public it doesnt matter, but they are not comfortable when someone doesnt look like them? that makes sense. And I know "real" parties do that, I thought thats what hellbound might have been, at least to some extent...I mean not public parties tend to be well...ya know.... Oh well.

Personally, I don't much care either way how people dress..... Some people think you are not a freak if you are not like them.....Or it makes them think you are the wrong brand of prev if you are not same-ish looking. I don't claim to understand these creatures, I am just going off of what I have heard from people over many years on the scene..... I tend not to go to those shows much anymore.....They are usually pretty lame
Ice Queen (1) Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Other clubs have dress codes. If you show up not in proper dress code you are either denied entrance or limited access, and these are not limited to goth or fetish type events. A little Hellbound info copied from Noir Blog: Wednesday, November 26, 2008 HELLBOUND 69 Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 Current mood: naughty Category: Parties and Nightlife What is a "Hellbound" ? How Did it start? What Happens there???... The HB party's started back in the early 90's. Noir has always sold Fetish Clothing. But Our Customers had no place that they could safety wear it with out being Mauled by Bar crowds or Harassed by Regular Folk. London England had Private Fetish attire parties where everyone had to be Dressed in Fetish gear (Leather, Shiny Vinyl, Latex etc.) to enter. This Kept everyone with the same Taste & Respect together Partying in Harmony. I Checked out These Fetish Fashion Parties in London & Berlin when I went on Buying trips for Latex Fetish Attire & Fetish footwear in the 80's & 90's for Noir Leather. There were so many requests here at Noir in Royal Oak in the early 90's about creating this type of Party for Detroit. Thus Hellbound was created. Using the Words Hell & Bound Joining them together to name this new Never Before seen in Detroit Party. The first Hellbounds were given Numbers like Hellbound II, III IV, V & so on up to IIIX then Noir Just Referred to them as a Hellbound Party. Over the years Hellbound has been in a constant State of evolution. We always provide complimentary Hors D'Oeuves. Guest DJ's keep it Fresh. (as of late, Playing mostly goth & Industrial Dance.) There is a Spectacular Live Fetish Stage Show featuring about 20+ sexy Noir Models. A spanking Booth with hot Dominatrixs . Bands sometimes play, There have been contests for the best Dressed. Each hellbound is unique. Many times the guests create something new such as the human board walk! (Women are invited to walk across the Chests of a line of men laying side to side on their backs.) One never knows what a Hellbound will bring! The euphoria a HB creates is reminiscent of the Sexiest New Years Eve Party you've ever been to & the best Halloween Party combined! This time we have an Amazing Neon 69 Sign by local artist John Aretakis. It will be 7' tall & 10' wide! Cybertybe, Los Minstrels Del Diablo and the Noir Fetish / Fashion Show Entitled: Smoke and Mirrors Santa's XXXmas Workshop Electrical Fire will be performing in front of this Fantastic Neon Art Piece! For your Dancing Pleasure we have DJs DETHLAB and F.I.S.T. Tickets in advance @ Noir are: Women $8, Couples $18.50, Men $16.50, Trans Gender's $10. At the door prices will be $2 to $3.50 more Doors Open at 9pm, 18+ Fetish or Formal Dress Code. NO Cameras Without Photo Pass. ________________________________________________________________________________ ________________
hunhee Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Here's my 3 cents on dress code. Why is it that when things are advertised, as some form of dress code, people do not read at all. When I went to "That Damned Show" it said "RED event" and so what did I do? I made sure that I wore some RED. When "Exotica" had their Masquerade Ball.. guess what?!?! I wore a MASK, but I was like one of 10 people who followed the dress code. I'm glad that they blocked off "plain dressed" people out of the play area. If they didn't enforce their own rules then the event wouldn't have been as special. If you want to schlep around in your jeans and tee, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, or STAY AT HOME, because you're MISSING the entire point of why we have these types of events in the first place. People and life are WAY TOO casual. I get pissed off when people wear jeans to church and funerals. You are in a house of god people, have some RESPECT (this is coming from the practically atheist). When you're eating dinner.. TAKE YOUR EFFING HAT OFF!!! it's RUDE. When you go into stranger's houses, TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF!!! Unless of course, they tell you otherwise. Sorry... And I would believe if furries showed up to this event dressed up as such, they would have been welcomed with open arms... Including the diaper clad people.
Bernadette Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I was still out of town, so did not attend. BUT, oddly enough, a friend of mine was the body painter at this event. This was a shocker, cuz I know him thru a totally different circle. He told me last nite that he enjoyed the music and the event. He said it was good people watching, and those he talked to seemed cool. Plus he got paid to be there! He did not offer anything up about the dress code. He did say it seemed smaller than what he expected. I asked him what his favorite item(s) to paint -- skeleton face on one of the band members, crosses and sparkly targets on some girls' breasts so they could forego the electrical tape! As for my thoughts on dress code, if there is a theme I think it's cool if people get into it and dress for it. But to exclude people from all or part of the venue, I don't think I agree with that. At the same time, where do you draw the line, if it is a more formal event. Maybe it's like restaurants that don't allow jeans, and require a sportcoat for dining. And they usually have some on hand to borrow... so, fettish items for loan??? Hmm... wow.

There is a fetish for everything, just becuase it isnt yours doesnt mean it shouldnt be allowed. maybe people cant afford 300 dollar latex shirts so they wear what they can, your going to punish them for that?

There were only a few people in latex. You could have gone to the dollar store and bought a dog collar and probably had been fine. For another $1 you could even get the leash. Don't like that idea...borrow some scrubs (medical fetish) or get some at a thrift store for a couple bucks.
deathfearsnone Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 i'm glad i didn't go then sounds like i wouldn't of been able to see cybertrybe perform anyways oh well see them january 25th with powerman
vampvoluptuous Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I was at Hellbound. I have been going to them since the mid 90's. I always have a pretty good time. I really enjoyed the music. The crowd was a bit tamer them most Hellbounds but over all it was good. The dress code is ALWAYS pretty strict at hellbounds. one time they would not let me in with a leather skirt and vest with a shirt under it because they said I looked to tame so I had to remove my shirt under my vest! wow now thats strict. I was actually surprised to see any plain dressed people there at all.

Umm.. I bought the dress I wore that night on clearance for less than ten dollars.. it's vinyl. I'm a thrifty kind of gal, but it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to be creative on a budget. I'm saying people need to have some respect for the event. People in duct tape would have been allowed in, and you can buy that for like 1.50 a roll. *shrugs* I think you're being a little ridiculous with that 300 dollar statement, but I do get your point, but if you're going to pay 16.50 to get into that type of event, you should be creative enough to come up with something interesting. i'm glad i didn't go then sounds like i wouldn't of been able to see cybertrybe perform anyways oh well see them january 25th with powerman Cybertrybe was upstairs, you would have been allowed.
DJ Nocker Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 i'm glad i didn't go then sounds like i wouldn't of been able to see cybertrybe perform anyways oh well see them january 25th with powerman No offence to Cybertrybe but you didnt miss much, there sound guy was god awful and the music was painfully loud to the point of making me go downstairs less than half way into the show. Downstairs they were playing trance...which added to my anger about the dress code...You cant go in unless your in goth/fetish wear but they wouldnt play ANY goth music.... all trance. I actually went up to the DJ's and asked them if they would play anyhing other than electronica and I was laughed at! The DJ upstairs was alright but yea...
n0Mad Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 but if you're going to pay 16.50 to get into that type of event, you should be creative enough to come up with something interesting. If you're going to pay $16.50 to get into an event, you shouldn't have to worry about what you're wearing. Though if you simply wore a dress you'd save $6.50. That's fucked up.

Our country has turned into a bunch of slobs. Not wearing a mask to a masquerade? Insane. A red event with people not wearing red? WTF! Those of us who are not slobs and enjoy dressing up for events are not doing it to be gawked at by people who refuse to follow the rules. If I tried to wear jeans and a t shirt to my next black tie affair, I WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN. And rightfully so! Those who choose not to participate should not come in the first place. Way to homogenize what few exciting events left in Detroit. We may as well start playing some Justin Timberlake at City Club for all the gawkers.

I think you, hunhee and ice queen arent understanding my and spooks thought pattern. "Black Tie" and "Masquarade" are pretty easy to define and arent very diverse. THERE IS A FETISH FOR EVERYTHING! you dont have to be goth to like being tied/chocked/whiped/beat/waxed/shat and pissed on/ect! In all actuality your being unfair to the fetish community. People know what a Black Tie event is, but the fetish community is much to vast to say they are all goth, as a matter of fact, alot of them arent, they do there best to keep it a secret, not to flaunt it. I happen to know a guy who makes fun of me for wearing eye liner and thinks the goth thing is lame, but he likes to have sex while wearing masks...he wouldnt be let in wearing casual clothes and a random halloween mask ya know what I mean. I understand what you guys mean, and if it werent a fetish party I would be in full agreement, as I said I particiapted in the masquarade ball and ty to do all theme parties the way they are supposed to. But Fetish is to big to put a clothing restriction on in my opinion. A raised price sure why not, but not inability to participate. Oh, and they already play Benni Benasi at CC so Justin TImberlake isnt to far off....

livininxtcgoth Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I'm with hunhee in that I'm always really irritated when I dress according to an advertised dress code and no one else does. I spent a LOT of time and money getting ready for an exotica masquerade ball and not even the people throwing the event had masks on (most of them at least). BUT you can't expect everyone who's going to see your flyer/website/get all the info. Lots of people go to events by word of mouth (if you get a call from a friend at the last minute asking you what you're doing tonight, do you tell them oh hey be here at this time it'll be great or do you read an entire list of rules and regulations for going to and being involved in activities at said place? ya that's what I thought). It would have been nice of the people at the door to let you know that you can't go into the play room with your current outfit (especially since the play room entrance was right next to the front door). I don't know if my friend was informed of this, I didn't ask, but I don't think he was. $20 at the door is a lot of money to be forced to sit in one room where music is painfully loud and be denied half of the action you paid the full price for. Also, what about a VIP room you had to conform to dress code to be allowed access to? VIP area? Maybe you can go in but you can't participate if you are dressed "normal"? I'm just making some suggestions...
Guest greyhalo Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Is that sarcasm? Not at all. I do like your posts.
DJ Nocker Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 Not at all. I do like your posts. Woot. at least some one around here does, usually I get put on "probation" for my posts.
