Clothing On Animals...

Under normal cercumstances, I think the idea of putting clothing and costumes on pets is utterly rediculous and cruel. I do, however, know that sometimes clothing is needed to keep animals warm. Like so many animals out there, mine lacks the fur to keep himself warm... (He's a breed called peterbald, and is considered hairless, though he has the undercoat, but NOT both the top and under coat.. his fur feels like velvet) My roommate got him the cutest red sweater. I love red, and since he's solid black, he looks good in red. :)

So, here are some shots of my baby, Ryuu, during his first day wearing a sweater..(today) and I have to tell you, he's so silly with it... he doesn't know how to walk in it, yet, because he's never had anything around his actual arms... (well, front legs)... so he kind of walks like a bulldog, elbows cocked out to the sides, picking up his feet like he's walking in sticky mud.. man, when i get the chance, I'm going to film him walking around before and after the sweater, so you can get an idea of how different his walk is... you will pee yourself laughing and keep laughing till your sides hurt.. i swear..

but anyways...

*drum roll*

I was trying to hold him all curled up, and instead he just leaned back into my arm..

Your actually got your cat to wear a sweater? Any time we ever tried to put sweaters on any of our cats (a couple of times the heat went out in the middle of winter in my mom's old house) they'd fall over like they were playing dead, then proceed to try to chew and kick the sweater off, to the point where I finally just decided that if the cats were cold they'd find a blanket to snuggle under.

it might have something to do with their fur.. fuzzy cats are really anal about their fur and how it lays and what not.. Ryuu hardly has any, so its not an issue... and, hairy cats use their fur as whiskers as well, so it might have made them feel closterphobic, or something.. Ryuu's issue is just having something around his actual legs.. he normally wears a harness, but its under his arms, not around them... :)
