My aunt and cousin actually run a belly dance tribe, I believe it's called Carnivale Majoon or something of the sorts. They perform at Ren Fest every year and travel around doing professional performances. They even incorporate swords and fire...which is totally badass and manly, the only way that could ever be trumped is if they managed to incorporate AK-47s, Chuck Norris, and an atom bomb for the finale.

I can try to get some info from them about local places that are good to learn at.

The SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) does a bellydancing class, for free, on Sundays. (I think)

I've been warming up to going myself, but it's in Ann Arbor, and I have some pretty heavy social anxiety so I have yet to go, as I feel like I need "a buddy". LOL

Yeah, in the afternoon. Farness is a major turnoff too. It's mostly that I don't know very many SCA people on this side of the state and don't talk to strangers!
