Reaper Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Thoughts? I was disappointed in the end really. It was rather sudden. Kinda like skippin foreplay and shootin your wad.

freydis Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 It has Keanu in it. That alone is incentive to not see it. Just like Valkyrie. If it were anyone but Tom Cruise, I'd see it.
Azeuron Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 did anyone actually read the book first yes and i felt this one was more in keeping with the book but still different in a good way but i do agree it wrapped up rather quickly
Reaper Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 did anyone actually read the book first I'd never have a life if I read the books before seeing all the movies. Now if I could only see some of the Piers Anthony novels come to the big screen. Those would be books I read first before seeing the movie.
Constantin Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 and yet another cam copy for those that are tired of paying for remakes again divx web player is needed to view http://www.freemediatv.com/video/1932-The_..._TS_STG_FB.html
TheGimp Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 i heard it sucked but i think ill till give it a shot
Michiko_Dreads Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 HOW MANY MOVIES MUST BE MADE IN AMERICA WHERE THE HUMAN RACE DIES BECAUSE OF THEIR EFFECT ON THE EARTH? I swear.. people said it sucked because it wasnt what they thought. I thought the happening was awesome but some people said why are the plants killing 'niggas' why couldnt been terrorist or something??? <<<We were the terrorist>>> Anyways Im tired of movies that scream GO GREEN... Living in America... It'll be a while....Our leaders are too money hungry... thats why we are fighting over oil... we have oil.... Instead of using alternatives we are stuck with gas because of the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR...... BACK TO THE SUBJECT: I thought it was going to be totally different but I realized eh... what could I do.... its one of those movies you watch once and again 3 years from now. It wasnt horrible... just different from my usual movie choices. Keanu... loved him in the matrix..... other movies Im like egh...... stick to the futuristic fantasies boy...........
kellygrrrrrl Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hated it..... now The Punisher.... that was AWSOME
Homicidalheathen Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 gonna go see it later if for no other reason to droll over Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly...I mean its SCI FI...I gotta see it.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 It ok. I wouldn't say it was good, but i wouldn't call it a bad movie either. I also agree that the ending was a bit too abrupt. I wen't to see it becasue it was sci fi and well, unless the reviews are just DOGPOO and i have a chance to see a sci fi film at the theater I have to take it. I wouldn't "recommend" it to any but fairly hardcore sci fi fans who have made peace with the fact that Hollywood will never do a book or a remake correctly. I was expecting to drool over Mrs. Connely as well... she is attractive still but in this she looks the the uber-harmless asexual rail-thin soccer mom in this. Re-watching Firefly or Battlestar Galactica for the 9th time might be time better spent. hah. *QUASI-SPOILER ALERT* The title theme "The Day The Earth Stood Still" meaning.... the machines all stopped moving/working (in the original) never even happened in this thing did it? Unless I slept though something.
Onyx Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 That's my impression also - it was OK, not great, not a total stinker. Worth a matinee price, not worth seeing at full price. *QUASI-SPOILER ALERT* The title theme "The Day The Earth Stood Still" meaning.... the machines all stopped moving/working (in the original) never even happened in this thing did it? Unless I slept though something. I believe that happened at the very tail end (and that I think was what he meant when he said that we would have to learn a new way of living or something like that).

It happened when the orb made its appearance at the city park. When violence was threatened, the tall being shut the whole city down and nothing mechanical worked.

Scary Guy Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 "I'm impatient with stupidity. My people have learned to live without it." The original is much much better. Although I did like a few parts about the new movie. The casing for traveling from one planet to another and then adapting to the environment. Gort was made out of millions of tiny insects that multiplied was neat but so not true to the original. They did keep with a few of the key plot points but not many. It butchers the original but stands well on its own. It was nice to see the table though
DarkVampire Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Hollywood writers are running out of original ideas if they have to do remakes of classics.
Scary Guy Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Hollywood writers are running out of original ideas if they have to do remakes of classics. They've been doing that for years before anyway. If they can't get the rights to the original they change a few things and give it a different title to avoid the copywrite.
bled_dry Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I have a very heavy heart when really good classic movies get remade, it has to be over the top to even be worth going to see. Then there are incidents like psycho....man (heavy sigh)..... I was extremely disappointed in seeing Keanu, it made me not even want to bother with it all together. Even if they were looking for someone robotic, yes, he's the one to choose, but really????!!!! Murder of cinema is never good.
Homicidalheathen Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I laughed out loud twice, and the movie was not trying to be funny.
