You like Macs and thats fine but you honestly don't know enough about computers in general to even be in this conversation.

Who's belittling whom?

Macs? Linux? I would rather have Windows ME before those.

XP is the best there is so far. Hopefully Windows 7 will replace that. It seems like Microsoft skips every other version when it comes to good OSes. Win 3.X good. Win 95 Bad. Wind 98SE good. Win ME bad. Win XP good. Windows Vista bad.

The funny thing about Windows ME.. is that it is actually Windows 98 Millennium Edition. There are very few places that you can see that give away the fact that it is infact a trumped up version of Win98.

Windows Vista is great... if you're a moron who can't use a computer and always breaks it doing things you shouldn't be doing in the first place.

Stick with XP since it's been around for a long time and wait until they hit SP2 with Vista. Any good applications will run on either XP or Vista anyway (the really good ones run on 95 and the really really good ones will have a version for 3.11 using 16 bit).

I'm a fan of "less is more" so using less resources (such as RAM and processing power) is better for the system. These days programmers use up way too many resources. Hell in the Atari 2600 days they had to fit an entire game on 8K of memory http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOS_Technology_6507 (for reference).

So let me break this down for you. This means that Pac-Man fit on 8k and most games today come on a DVD or span multiple CDs and the graphics and audio are marginal.

1024 kilobytes = 1 megabyte

1024 megabytes = 1 gigabyte

4.7 gigabytes = 1 DVD disk

My gripe is that programmers of today waste too much space because they're lazy and don't want to make it fit.

Oh yeah... Vista. It looks pretty so get it if you want something that looks pretty. If you want something that works stick with XP.

Windows 2000 was great as well BTW.

Of course the best is any UNIX system.
