Nienna Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks everybody! They're doing whole brain radiation and a brand new chemo drug simultaneously. They said her type of tumor is very resistant, but they will hope for the best, and the fact that most of it was gotten will at the least up her survival time significantly and will make a chance at recovery at least possible.
Nienna Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Just an update: Mom is 1 week away from completing her radiation and is doing fabulously. Chemo will continue, maybe for years, while they monitor for re-growth. In all, this has, so far, been WAY easier than any of us planned on it being. SO... here's to hoping that continues!

LuluVox Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 What a huge relief that must be -- very glad your mom's doing well.
Nienna Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 What a huge relief that must be -- very glad your mom's doing well. Thanks! It's still really scary but we're trying to ignore that part.
SuZQZ Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 OMG Nienna, you know I haven't been on here much lately due to my mom' health so I had no idea you were coping with all of this. Reading through from the beginning my stomach was in my throat. So relieved to get to your more recent posts and learn that your mom is doing so well. My thoughts and prayers are with you both for continued good news.

It helps that she's totally herself and feels pretty good really. It's still really scary to think about.
hunhee Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 OMG I'm so relieved to hear this. I like good news!!!
Bernadette Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Yay & Whew for your Mom! And for You! Keep the good vibes going ...
Nienna Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 I went to see her Sunday. She looks like hell but seems to be in high spirits so yay!
TomCat Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Still thinking about you and your Mom. Sending positive vibes your way.
Nienna Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Mom finished her radiation yesterday so now we wait... So good, no tumor growth energy is needed. They were able to remove it, so we're hoping for no re-growth. The radiation was to kill any remaining cells.
Brenda Starrr Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 You and yours are in our thoughts. I'm glad to know that she's doing better!
