sign me up, as well!!!

yeah, I want a serger, as well.. man that would be awesome!!!! making clothes would be so much easier. I wouldn't have to cut everything slightly bigger than needed to fold the edge over... oh man... lol

I'm interested.

But I have no skills whatsoever, rofl

what she said.

I've had some experience with hand sewing and have even used a machine once or twice. I love to be a part of something like that and if I lived closer then I be there for sure.

I can crochet! This sounds cool. I'd love to go if work & transportation permit. :)

edit: i also know how to make these little dolls out of yarn as well, not useful for anything but kinda cute. :p

..maybe...time & rides permitting...I need to figure out how to make hoods...

Are you in FH?? You know I am, right?

We should catch dinner sometime.

Hey!! Where's MY dinner invite? hehe jk.. :) We need to do that sometime tho. ;)

I'm so into the sewing thing. This is good timing, because I've not yet bought my machine, and I was thinking about doing that soon, I can get advice on which machines are good and which ones not to buy.. I'm excited!! Count me in!!! :)

What time on Feb 1? I may not be able to make the first day.. :cry

I have an ANCIENT sewing machine that I've been meaning to fire up for sometime now, and Royal Oak isn't far, hell I "lived" there for two years. And by live I mean loiter on the corner of 4th and Main almost all day every day for 3-4 years straight.

Has anyone ever seen Richard Kern's short film called "Sewing Circle"?

this sounds awesome!!!

we can just turn my house into the land of sewing-type craftiness!

i was thinking about an afternoon event, and people could bring snacks. maybe 1 to 5 pm? then we could do a quick cleanup and any interested parties could head to WAB (aka woodward avenue brewing company) for half off food night!

*ponders how much of the house could conceivably be turned into sewing space*

i would love to attend :)

problem is i usually have draconian rehearsals on sundays... it wouldn't be a consistent thing on my end but i would love to come.

and i can totally help you make a hood for your dreadlocks (the one on my coat is gigantic for such a purpose).

i drive from howell/brighton so all i ask is that schedule is set in stone before i start driving.

when are we thinking of starting?

To clarify the plans, I shall post this largely and brightly colored official announcement...

Sunday February 1!

1 to 5pm!

My house, Royal Oak, Main & 13

I would appreciate it if people could bring drinks or snacky things. I might also need to borrow a table or two... but we'll see how many people plan to come!

I'll send more detailed directions closer to the date :-)

Hmmm.. Can I bring my little craftettes? They like fingerknitting, and Ariane has started a little butterfly latch/hook pillow thingy...

I'll just sit in the shadows and document the mayhem in photos. :secret:

Maybe at one of these I can teach everyone how to make a really basic lolita skirt, since so many people have asked me about mine at the club, etc. A simple one shouldn't take too long, and if we cut a few corners everyone (everyone who has a machine anyway) should be able to finish theirs in one day.

:cry I would really, REALLY, really like to do something like this, but I'm like...an 8 hours drive away :crybaby:
