Vedoryn Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 oo! i know i don't know anyone yet but if i could hitch a ride (i would pay for gas) i would like to come. (if no one minds) i am really good at sewing my hand to the clothing and glueing my face to places it shouldnt be stuck to lol. but i have been thinking about getting a sewing machine so i can try to make the clothes i cant seem to buy.
GothicRavenGoddess (3) Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 sign me up, as well!!! yeah, I want a serger, as well.. man that would be awesome!!!! making clothes would be so much easier. I wouldn't have to cut everything slightly bigger than needed to fold the edge over... oh man... lol
Simon Bar Sinister Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm interested. But I have no skills whatsoever, rofl what she said.
MyOwnSavior Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I've had some experience with hand sewing and have even used a machine once or twice. I love to be a part of something like that and if I lived closer then I be there for sure.
pheramoans Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I can crochet! This sounds cool. I'd love to go if work & transportation permit. edit: i also know how to make these little dolls out of yarn as well, not useful for anything but kinda cute.
Rev.Reverence Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 ..maybe...time & rides permitting...I need to figure out how to make hoods...
Brenda Starrr Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I want to buy a good starter machine and learn SO badly!
hunhee Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Are you in FH?? You know I am, right? We should catch dinner sometime. Hey!! Where's MY dinner invite? hehe jk.. We need to do that sometime tho. I'm so into the sewing thing. This is good timing, because I've not yet bought my machine, and I was thinking about doing that soon, I can get advice on which machines are good and which ones not to buy.. I'm excited!! Count me in!!! What time on Feb 1? I may not be able to make the first day..

Destroit Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I have an ANCIENT sewing machine that I've been meaning to fire up for sometime now, and Royal Oak isn't far, hell I "lived" there for two years. And by live I mean loiter on the corner of 4th and Main almost all day every day for 3-4 years straight.
Guest greyhalo Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Has anyone ever seen Richard Kern's short film called "Sewing Circle"?
aequorea Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 this sounds awesome!!! we can just turn my house into the land of sewing-type craftiness! i was thinking about an afternoon event, and people could bring snacks. maybe 1 to 5 pm? then we could do a quick cleanup and any interested parties could head to WAB (aka woodward avenue brewing company) for half off food night! *ponders how much of the house could conceivably be turned into sewing space*
Rev.Reverence Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 ..Does anybody know how to make hoods? .....like for to cover dreadlocks in the rain?
Brenda Starrr Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 ..maybe...time & rides permitting...I need to figure out how to make hoods... I'd ride ya, Baby! Wait.... I'll DRIVE ya, Baby! Yeah...

livininxtcgoth Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 i would love to attend problem is i usually have draconian rehearsals on sundays... it wouldn't be a consistent thing on my end but i would love to come. and i can totally help you make a hood for your dreadlocks (the one on my coat is gigantic for such a purpose). i drive from howell/brighton so all i ask is that schedule is set in stone before i start driving. when are we thinking of starting?

aequorea Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 when are we thinking of starting? To clarify the plans, I shall post this largely and brightly colored official announcement... Sunday February 1!1 to 5pm! My house, Royal Oak, Main & 13 I would appreciate it if people could bring drinks or snacky things. I might also need to borrow a table or two... but we'll see how many people plan to come! I'll send more detailed directions closer to the date :-)
Msterbeau Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hmmm.. Can I bring my little craftettes? They like fingerknitting, and Ariane has started a little butterfly latch/hook pillow thingy... I'll just sit in the shadows and document the mayhem in photos.
TheOsakaKoneko Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Maybe at one of these I can teach everyone how to make a really basic lolita skirt, since so many people have asked me about mine at the club, etc. A simple one shouldn't take too long, and if we cut a few corners everyone (everyone who has a machine anyway) should be able to finish theirs in one day.
maeve Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I would really, REALLY, really like to do something like this, but I'm like...an 8 hours drive away
