JUNEAU, Alaska – Extreme temperatures — in Johnson's case about 60 below zero — call for extreme measures in a statewide cold snap so frigid that temperatures have grounded planes, disabled cars, frozen water pipes and even canceled several championship cross country ski races.

Alaskans are accustomed to subzero temperatures but the prolonged conditions have folks wondering what's going on with winter less than a month old.

More on this story....

60 below zero is what they are dealing with in Juneau Alaska - daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

I guess we can count our lucky stars it hasn't been that bad here.

How the hell does wildlife live in that? I'll always wonder. I mean, I know how, it just brain fucks me when I think about it.

I always get VERY depressed about freezing temps and the like due to stray kittehs/dogs that aren't evolved to be equipped for cold like caribou and northern wolves are :cry.

When I stayed in Valdez, it wasn't nearly that cold! It was very much like our own winters, here.

As for our lovely weather today, two thumbs up!! I love sunny winter days. :)
