TitsMcGee Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Ooo I just might have to come up with something for this. I could definatly use the cash.
taysteewonderbunny Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Ooo I just might have to come up with something for this. I could definatly use the cash. I hope all the talented DGNers go for this. Then the winner amongst us can treat the rest to dinner (some place reasonable). So if you enter, TELL US HERE. (Dinner thingee eligible to those who both submit and agree to uphold the bargain in this thread--so state it explicitly if you qualify on both counts.)
freydis Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 ergh. Not exactly free. In the submission guidelines, it states a $20 subscription fee. You have to pay the fee just to enter.

You have to pay the fee just to enter. Um. That's the reading fee. The subscription is free. I've had one for two years and they've never made me pay a dime. Some other contests are free, but this is a special event. The prize money is higher and the submissions are more numerous. It makes for a humongous heap of sometimes not so special literature to dig through, so I don't blame them. Most legit contests do have a fee; $20 is typical and, I think, worth the venture.
Scales Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 If I win one of the top three places, then I would go for the dinner thing for whoever else is pooled into it. Edit: Submitted.
e-jewell Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I am most definately not worthy of sending 20 dolla to these readers. I cower at the thought of even attempting to do so, for I am nothing but a lowly writer whose pride in her work could never amount to a full twenty dollars.

Raev Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I'm not the best writer in the world - but I have been a little experience and like to do so. I think I'll throw something together for it. Maybe I'll submit one of my already published shorts :D
Scales Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Sadly, I had to withdrawal my submission. I probably revised it over thirty times before I sent it in, but with over 9,000 words and my still being in the learning process, I found a bunch of structural errors after submitting it which drove me crazy.

Hmmm. Well, I has no job now and thus no excuses. I will be writing my ass off this week to get my story in.
Scales Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hmmm. Well, I has no job now and thus no excuses. I will be writing my ass off this week to get my story in. Good luck with the writing. I'm not currently employed either, but I'm working on a novel. I have no worthwhile short fiction to send into Narrative so I'll have to try sending something at a later date. I'll probably give my previous story a few more revision sweeps and post it here though.

Scales Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Looking forward to seeing it! Its kind of like Donnie Darko meets Animal Farm, but could've been written better and more on the side of practice. http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=28394
