e-jewell Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I doubt anybody plays, but if they do, I need a little help rolling up this new char. Sorceress, so I get a familiar. Going with the tiny viper. How do I roll up the stats for it? I haven't done stats for a familiar in a loooooong time.
n0Mad Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 A) Ask your DM. If you don't have a DM, then why bother making a character? 2) Doubt anybody plays? You have been away from this forum for a while. There's a huge discussion on version 3.0/3.5 vs. 4.0 and even some hardcore AD&D2E people chiming in along with the nostalgia of the "red box".

Ehhh I don't want to bother my DM. Besides, it's on a pbp guild page and she takes Forever to respond.
sexslavetrainer Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Sorry thought this said help with DP.... Don't know anything about DD... So what are you rolling up??
e-jewell Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Alright so here's my char http://www.thetangledweb.net/forums/profil...r.php?cid=21057 Familar info in 'other notes', the spaces indicate mods that I don't remember how to calculate. Got the basic layout for the tiny snake, but now I need to make it an actual magic creature/ familiar.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I wanna play Chainmail (what it was called before it was called D&D) and yes... I do have the ONE rule "book" that it came with.
Destroit Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Nobody plays D&D? Psssht. We had DGN D&D going every Saturday with a few members for like 4-5 months, and then disbanded due to, well, let's just say irreconsilable differences. We've actually been looking for one more player for awhile now, one newer member on here said that he'd love to join in our Saturday campaigns, but I PMed him and he never got back to me! So definately don't think you're alone on the D&D front, because not only are there some on here that like it, but there's five of us that get together (or are trying to) and play it. We're such nerds that afterwards we usually end up watching anime while I pwn everyone in DDR. Good times, good times...

Also.... no anime for me. Or DDR. lol.
Destroit Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Can you help me with my familiar then? I have a link up. Also.... no anime for me. Or DDR. lol. Funny, D&D's alright but the one thing I looked forward to with those nights was the anime and the DDR . I pretty much don't watch anything that's not animated, I don't like how real people look compared to anime people. I'm still a little new at playing, but I can ask my DM. He used to be on here, member name is Timata, but he lost his password and said "eff it" and doesn't go on DGN anymore.

Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 That is your best recourse as ultimately, every detail of your character is subject to their discretion.
e-jewell Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 Yeah.... I know her rules and everything though. She barely checks my chars, just looks over them nice and quick then sets me up for RP. I didn't want to ask her for help due to her sluggish pace..... If anybody here was able to help me right then and there it would have saved quite a bit of time. As it were I'm waiting on a message back from DM still.
TomCat Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 ...'twas the spirng of '83 when my crew started up with the D & D...back when I had the Monster Manuals I and II, carried around my die in an old crown royal bag my uncle gave me, and we hand painted our own lead figures...made with real lead. Imagine that. Our imagination was the key to the game being a success. There was no internet, and Gary Gygax was considered by many to be the devil himself.

The rattle of dice on a table, the look on players' faces when they realized how screwed they were, and the evil cackle a DM would give in watching the players squirm ands squeal in terror. *glances over at his almost complete collection of 1st ed books, then glances over at the plethora of other games he ran or played* *sigh* I need to start something.

What's changed? That's how our D&D campaigns are! Our DM hates us, he is quite verbose when expressing such, makes the game more interesting.
e-jewell Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 Lol to become a DM one must have a natural, and hefty, streak of sadism, that's for certain. What I like about play by post is that you have to write out all your actions, describe everything in detail. I enjoy writing, and in pbp you and the DM work together to not only create a fantasy to play in, but write a story.
StormKnight (1) Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Eh, it was the gathering of friends around a table to join forces, share some food and drink, and go beat the living shit out of something big and nasty. Playing by post seems more like an old MUD (yes, I played on them in 1992...gods I am ancient.) Besides, I like to see in their eyes when they realize the depth of their mistakes, especially when playing other game systems (Torg, Paranoia, Shadowrun, and the like.)

Pffffft, you are FAR from ancient StormKnight. Me on the other hand, there's a picture of a paladin getting his ass handed to him by an ogre in MM I...that's me, if you look closely enough.
e-jewell Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 lol I guess it's because I don't really have time to set up a weekly deal where I play with others. Pbp I get to post at my own pace, and now that my christmas break from school is over I'll be busy every day. Monday: Philosophy 9:30am-11am Humanities 6pm-9pm WORK 10pm-6am Tuesday: Digital Layout 8pm-11pm Wednesday: Philosophy 9:30am-11am WORK 10pm-6am Thursday: Digital Layout 8pm-11pm Friday Sociology 9am-1pm WORK 10pm-6am Saturday: WORK 10pm-6am See any free time for scheduled d&d in there? lol. The few times I'm not working or at school I'm too exhausted to really do anything. People ask me to hang out and I tell them I'm sick because I don't want to go anywhere. Rather screw around on the internet and play video games, it's more relaxing and less demanding.
