DJ Nocker Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I have started several games in the past few weeks, all of which I do enjoy and I wouldnt mind playing more, I am story telling a "Kindred of the East" game I started with 2 of my friends and I cant wait for the characters to get in farther to my story...but for about a year I have really wanted to do a good emotional "Wraith: The Oblivion" game....although with only 2 or 3 players im not sure how to pull it off well and keep everyone in tune with there shadows. Its not that I cant think of a story, the story is the easiest part, its that Wraiths mechanics are tricky and usually you need a few people to play both shadows and wraiths.... Any thoughts? (spook, im looking for your help lol)
phee Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I used to play World Of Darkness stuff A LOT .... But that was like 1993 - 2004 or so.... Including Wraith... what specific issues are you having with the mechanics?
Necromanta Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 ..Just let me see the book and I'll play. =D

I am having trouble dealing with the shadow, not becuase I dont know how it works, but becuase I have a shortage of people and one of my players is very new to the systems and i dont want to scare him away. I dont want people playing there own shadows and I dont want to confuse my players by being everyones shadow.

n0Mad Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Bring in a co-storyteller whose sole job is shadowguiding. If you can find someone interested in doing just that. Too bad you didn't get me 6 months ago when my break from school started. Next month I'll be back in the grind, finishing up my MBA.

Yea you see its finding a Co ST..... ill have to figure something out. the only other person that has enough knowledge of the game to be a ST has no backbone and therefor be a terrible shadow, lol...
phee Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 One of the best white wolf GM's ever... (Cixwicked from this here board) usually asked which other players would be comfortable playing shadows (either their own or others)... Then he starts with the training wheels on a bit, he plays their shadows for the first few sessions himself and lets them take over.... the only problem he had was that he was so good at playing the shadow, that some of the players didn't want him to stop.
Necromanta Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I've never had the chance to play a Wraith. ;[
DeadBurgerKing (10) Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I still have all the major books for Werewolf The Apocalypse. Combat guide, Tribe guides, Primary book (Vol 2 I think)... My Silent Strider was a bad ass...
DJ Nocker Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 I still have all the major books for Werewolf The Apocalypse. Combat guide, Tribe guides, Primary book (Vol 2 I think)...My Silent Strider was a bad ass... I hate Werewolf....its my least favorite system and I refuse to play one. I dont care if other people play a wolf (although id prefer they didnt) but I cant stand it, havent played one since high school and it was becuase it was my first game and it was a wolf only game. I dont mind the other shapeshifters as much, I actually think the Naga, Mokele and Ananasi are freaking sweet. My liking of the games would go something like this.... Changeling Wraith Vampire Mage Kindred of the East Mummy Demon Orpheous (only becuase I like wraith more....) Hunter Werewolf
n0Mad Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I'd have to rank mine in tiers. Wraith Changeling, Vampire, Mage Orpheus, Mummy Hunter, Demon Kindred of the East, All Other Shifters A Hot Sulfer Enema Werewolf
Nightgaunt Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Wow. I played in a Werewolf game for a few years and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm not so crazy about the "save the Earth" theme, but the Storyteller I had was fantastic. Mage would have to be my favorite, though...

My guess as to why I dont like it is becuase they are all hippies in a sense and becuase I never really liked werewolves in general in comparrison to all the other supernatural things.
