I'm not really a computer person, in the sense that I don't know all these newfangled fancy websites and whatnot.

Anyways I'm sitting here, getting ready to watch Half-Baked, on tvshack.net. And it starts..... buffering. It's only at 2%.

What are some good sites that won't give me this bs? Preferably as little downloading as possibly involved.

Also I'd like to add my throat is sore and raw. Every time I cough, which is at frequent and sporadic intervals, a layer of delicate throat skin is being removed.

Well movies tend to be very large in size like anywhere between 3 and 7 gigabytes depending on the quality. It sounds like you're watching a streaming movie which means it plays directly from the website. "Buffering" is a way of saying it's downloading (temporarily) the content of the movie so you can watch it. I don't know much about watching movies online so I don't have any websites to reference for you. I tend to either watch movies on DVD or obtain them in manners I'm not allowed to discuss in public.

I'd say if you want to pursue this venture you need to have a decent broadband connection.

lol I know that much at least. But I also know that there's a few websites which don't require a 3 hour wait to watch video... for instance, south park studios has all the episodes and requires no wait at all to watch them.

I found a good website for the movie anyways though, it's all good.

The first statement is incorrect. There are lots of compressed DVD's floating around that will fit on a standard sized CD and still maintain pretty good quality. Now that they've cracked the blu-ray encryption too (again) you might see some high quality 50GB DVD disks floating around.

As far as the second I hear you on that. However freedom of information in mind some people may wish to check out scrapetorrent.com to find movies and use a program such as utorrent (the u is actually an upside down h that stands for micro) to download them. You can get legal software and such this way too since a lot of open source people like to distribute this way or even films/other works of art that have fallen into the public domain.

What economy do you live in? Because I certainly can't afford that. I have other things that I need to do with that cash. Actors get paid way too much anyhow (except for the extras and other people who don't get paid squat anyway).

All we are to them is consumers anyway. Walking dollar sign fodder for their cash registers of doom and even after we're dead they'll still be trying to extort money from us. Since they already don't trust us and think of us as criminals anyway why not play the part?

"Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We *want* them broken. You'd better get it straight That it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against- then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with." - Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" 1957

The internet is one of the main reasons the ecomony is the way it is.

Do you mean the piracy downloading part of it or the outsourcing our programing/tech jobs to other countries part of it?

The internet isn't to blame, people are to blame. Even though you can't really blame them for being people and doing what is in their nature. Wait a second YES YOU CAN.

Ah, yet another time you quote good old Ayn Rand as an excuse for petty anarchy...

I watch movies and othe media on the Internet all the time so I'm pretty much just playing devil's advocate, but there is harm done by the current societal norms of not paying for any media. It is still illegal for a reason, not just to turn us into controllable criminals. It may have an inevitable outcome at this point, but the fight still has to be fought by those whom are hurt by the breaking of the laws. It's not entirely a victimless crime.

Like I said, I'm just playing devil's advocate, but if you can't afford to buy the movie in this economy, if your cash is too tight and needs to go to more important things, fine - don't watch the movie. It's not that big of a loss or that difficult a question.

Yes but then people go "have you seen" I go "no" and they start telling me about the movie before i've seen it. Which makes me want to stab them in the gut. My piracy prevents other people's homicides which I believe to be a good thing.

Starving artists I'll actually throw a buck or two when I can. But in a nation of poor people who can't afford anything and get their houses forclosed on... Hell I'm struggling to make my car payment (still owe $500 on it).

Also Ayn Rand is awesome, and so is anarchy in microscopic ammounts.

Hahaha I see your point good sir! Well-played, well-played.

I concede your first point but I find slight issue with calling us a nation of poor people..if you were poor you wouldn't have internet to play your pirated movies on. :p

Ayn Rand may be awesome, but that's all the more reason not to abuse her philosophy to defend your silly little crimes. XD

No I'd have dial-up or something equally as lame. Given the choice between stealing movies or stealing internet access from my neighbor who isn't skilled enough secure his wireless network I'm going with the movies. Wireless internet access sucks. If I could convince my parents to drop cable I'd find a way to steal that too. At least I'm only stealing from huge corporations that would only steal from other people anyway in a sort of vicious cycle circle jerk type of thing.

A good quote doesn't care who said it. Not to mention many of them are abused for what they weren't intended anyway, why should I be any different? It fits like a snug puzzle piece so well.
