William Ayers, the 1960s radical whose ties to President-elect Barack Obama caused trouble for his campaign, was turned away from Canada Sunday night as he tried to enter the country for a series of educational events.

Jeffrey Kugler, the executive director for the Center for Urban Schooling at the University of Toronto, said Ayers was deemed not admissible after being pulled aside by Canadian immigration officials while trying to clear customs at the Toronto airport.

Ayers had been invited to speak before the center. He was also scheduled to meet with the Toronto District School Board and do interviews with Canadian television and radio stations, Kugler said.

Kugler said the center sent e-mails notifying guests who planned to attend Ayers' talk that he had been turned back. Kugler said the center will try to reschedule Ayers.

Ayers, a co-founder of the violent Weather Underground group and current education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, told the Toronto Star that he didn't know why he had been turned away.

According to Kugler, Ayers was told he could request a hearing but that would mean some sort of detention and a possible two week wait. Ayers opted to return to Chicago.

FOX News' Jim Murphy contributed to this report.

And I thought Canada took everyone lol, you know except people who have drunk driving on their record.

Would you let Ayers board a plane? Would you let him even fly a toy plane? Age and the "wisdom" that comes with it doesn't excuse his past. Let him talk to people and convey his ideas? Maybe in some sort of institution...but not in a place that is still sane. He is the king of all that is violent "peaceful protesting" which still is a curse on our society today. The man can go to whatever hell exists for all I care...

Hell, with my past I shouldn't be doing alot of things...but until I slip up or something puts police focus on my activities I will still do those things. However, due to the state of things and the large amounts or illegal activites that are in other areas I do not see that happening. No I don't traffic drugs...

Now that brings a smile to my face. The fact that he is advising Obama on educantion reform takes it away.

Of course I would. I live in a neighborhood that you wouldn't dare walk through in the daytime; what the fuck is some 68-year-old guy supposed to do - scare me?

With his past...yes. Old white men can still have a following and I have seen first hand what can happen when people like him are set loose. Come over to Madison, WI for some of the peaceful protests lead by the same kind of people as him. They are so past their former actions that their speeches inspire the peaceful tipping of cars and burning of things. They even get peaceful enough to hurt bystanders with flying objects and throw the tear gas cans from the cops through small business windows.

Yeah, he needs a leash

I'd be much more comfortable sitting next to him on a plane than some of the rabid DGNers I've seen on here as of late

I don't like planes to begin with...unless I am flying. I don't fly under the influence of anything...

I have laundered money and traded guns...

Some people in my town know that and won't have anything to do with me

It's my fault and I accept that

He made a naughty...well a few naughties...and now he gets to deal with the result of his adventures

Have fun in life and do what you wish...but don't whine like a baby when it comes back and hits you in the face

It's like all the hardcore gangsters that talk tough until they get into trouble...oops...I guess society did that huh?

Maybe Canada decided they didn't want a high profile terrorist in their country. It is their right to allow or disallow entrance to anyone.

BTW, there is no statuette of limitations on Murder or attempted murder. He is not in prison because he turned states evidence.

Also, His rights as an American end at our borders.

He's said that he's still proud of what he did, which to me sounds like he's the same dude.

Thanks, but I also forgot to point out that he's also said he wishes he would have done more damage.
