unfortunately it does not seem to apply to some and the moderation team have taken their time and dragged their heels.

thanks for all the fish.

I have actually been playing nice. I don't wish to drive anyone away nor do I wish to be driven away (again).

But if that's how you feel, I'm not going to stop you. Just know I object to your decision and wish you'd stay, even if we do disagree a lot.

What happened??

I guess I'm not reading threads very much lately either, so I'm at a loss to understand why you would want to leave, too.

I are sad. :-(

Someone got a little mean and insulting.

No one said much about it. His sense of honor was maligned, so he chose to leave.

We have many older members of DGN who feel as though there are mods here who are a bit slow on doing their job. When they get offended, they expect "quick service" when it comes to issues on the board. I have to say that I see some degree of slowness with the moderation crew. Maybe more mods need to be brought on, as everyone can't be here at all times. Most of the members looking for mod help are looking for someone to appear to care about the issues that they bring to the mod staff.

It's not just my take on it. But I'm just saying so...

FTFY, and trimmed to the important parts. Addressing a grievance by excusing it makes people mad.

I was not seeking any sympathy from the mods, merely an end to justify the means. Things had already escalated too far, by the time personal credibilities began to get flamed. The thread should have been locked, before it became so HIDEOUSLY UGLY. I could not care less if the mods, or anyone else, agrees with my point of view. I am simply incensed at being baited and trolled, for whatever reason. It could have been over any subject matter, just happened to be something personal.

This is wrong.

Seriously.

And SG? Whether you see it or not, you ARE using the Aspergers as an excuse for a shitty attitude. Even if you honestly feel the way you do, it's poor form and poorer manners to come on here and say it, implying that most of us fall into the mentioned categories.

Aspergers doesn't make you a better person. It makes you without (or at the least impaired in) empathy, fettered in communication and interaction with others, and uncoordinated. You may have been attempting to paint a picture where you're seeing the positives, but what everyone heard is: "I don't give a shit about others, and I think this makes me a better person".

That's bullshit. Plain and simple.

Mods? Next time someone is being nasty, but not technically breaking rules, since others have been smacked for doing that anyway, can't someone simply say something, other than "Keep it nice, since people are getting upset, but I don't see a problem with what they said?" Can someone *please* stand up and say "You've technically not broken the rules, but you're being obnoxious, so cut it out?"

I agree with this. I'm the parentof an Asperger's child, and it's not allowed to be used as an excuse.

I hope you know that I'm on your side. As a former Sr., I was expressing what I know to be true.

And my point of view counts for shit right? He attacked me first you know, I just responded in the most polite way I knew how, by addressing the argument and not him.

People here take things to heart too easily. I like intelligent debate and I like playing devils advocate. But more often than not I like voicing my own views on the world. If that offends people then I'm sorry I'm such an evil bastard. Wait, no I'm not, no one should ever apologize for being who they are. I am sorry you feel/think that way about me though.

I'd also like to state that move the thread to the hidden deleted threads forum for review wasn't my choice. Locking it would have been fine.

EDIT:

NM I saw it moved to the "Your Creations" section. Not sure why, maybe because we created a steaming pile of crazy drama?

HW I'll miss you. Hopefully you'll come back. Its been a long time. I think of you as a good friend even though we've not physically met. I've felt this way for some time.

I honestly (and I'm sure most if not all) mods were unaware of this last bit of drama and I in particular was unaware of the recent history of this subject at all. When i sit down at the computer i get involved in a lot of things not directly "on board" with DGN.

I blame any perceived lack of "speed" at which things are done on myself. But it is difficult to untangle things and not just "do it" to whatever is suggested, especially when the complaints don't come until after things have gotten out of hand. I'm trying but I'm still officially hospitalized so sorting out the board tech, the moderators, the posters and all the posts, while near impossible to do even at full strength is even more difficult now. (only home on weekends and at night to sleep)

If we are unaware of something its hard to "get involved" when there are no complaints about a post its often hard to always be aware of it. We literally can't read every post, and even if we could, not all mods necessarily agree with what action should be taken. Especially when the persons being involved might be friends or some such and its clear that a given mod is not acting with full impartiality. When we are aware of something, such as a complex tangle of posts that are often beyond the play nice meter not just one person but often many parties involved are in the wrong, not just the ones complaining its more difficult.

There is a pinned topic asking for more mods, unfortunately its hard to get mods that are fully on board with the mod rules have the time/energy but especially we need a calm temperament as much as possible that wont blow a gasket when they get frustrated and/or aren't getting their way or are told "no" or "please stop doing X". Also people with a somewhat rude history or people that talk bad about DGN would have a hard time becoming mods. Taken all together makes getting a mod not as easy as it might sound. "Quick" and "Quality" rarely go together.

In terms of WHAT to do about X poster or Y post. Its a difficult line to juggle between not being "too harsh" and not being harsh enough. I hear complaints from both ends "omg the DGN is horrible i cant speak my mind (almost always its the tone/rudeness not the "point" of a persons post that is the problem" and "omg the DGN rules are being unenforced". Its a stressful thing and NEVER is everyone happy.

Closing this thread as much of it is against the play nice rules but not deleting it as there is a lot of misunderstanding that lead up to it and I'd like to address some of it publicly.

We are trying and I am trying its just not as simple as it might seem. I apologize for any problems i did not foresee or anyone that is unhappy. Im working on it, it might not be fast enough but I am.

Anyone interested in more direct commentary and what was probably the "last straw" see here:

This 👆 definitely goes with what I said in my other post - getting old sucks. Seems like *everything* takes longer and takes more energy out of me than it used to. Really need to work on my diet and exercise, I've found the older I get, the more important those things have really become...

Well we were supposed to leave last night, but life has a way of making plans for you. I'm about to get up and get ready to go on our vacation. Had and still have a lot to do.  Not easy to just up and leave a ranch with a lot of animals and things that need taken care of. We even have people here to watch and tend things while we're gone, but still.   I had to change the radiator in my car before we leave - got that done last night. Took a lot more out of me than I thought it would, so by the time I finished I had little energy for anything else. Today I just have a couple more quick things to do on the car, like cleaning it and packing stuff. Couple of minor things to do around the ranch today, as well.   I figure we should be on the road this evening sometime. I'm looking forward to it. We're going to see the wife's side of the family, people I actually like,  in Vegas and AZ. Should only be gone for a few days, maybe a week. Going to the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead and all kinds of stuff in between, so I'm pretty stoked. I LOVE the Southwest.   Wish me luck that my car survives the desert! (Hence new radiator) 🤠👍

Sometimes sleep can be a scary thing.  I passed out so hard at 4:54pm today.  Yesterday wiped me out with rentals, appointments and helping a lost dog get back home.  Fortunately, I found him on Facebook and contacted the owners and he was picked up before nightfall.  But I think I totally overdid it and paid for it today in the middle of handling business.  Thankfully it was some work at home stuff.   I definitely do not like being that kind of tired.  It's like the World could end and I'd wake up afterwards trying to find out what happened.
