OK, lets say I want to buy a sewing machine, what one/type would you gals recommend? I want to eventually be able to do corsets, which you all know sometimes (the good ones) have SEVERAL layers in them, and OR Vinyl, for we all know how much I absolutely LOVE vinyl, speaking of which, *ponders vinyl lolita outfit* :drool

Anyway, what do you gals think?

I'll ask my mom if you can email her. She's been sewing since she was a little girl and worked at a couple different sewing shops until recently. She sold machines and would probably be able to give you good advice. If you want.

yes, yes, yes, Yes, YES PLEASE!!!! :) It would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking about buying one soon, and I want to be at least well informed before I buy, and thought if I could get some well informed opinions from people in the know, it would be way better than me just looking up consumers information.

THANKS!!!! :)

This is my baby. I've only had him a few months, and I don't know how he is on the long haul yet...and I also don't know how he'll do on heavier fabrics or things like vinyl, but I do intend to find out sometime, and indeed, I intend to find out with QUITE the same thing in mind as you have mentioned! (Both of them, actually, but I was referring in particular to the latter.) Been contemplating that one for a while.

I haven't tried out the embroidery function on this one yet either. I just like the machine itself - VERY smooth, much better than any other machine I've owned, and I've had a few. Though most were OLD.

::experiences pain::

Yeah...plus...um...that bears absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to anything that could be called lolita...even though I do remember that it pops up if you look for 'vinyl lolita'.

There is exactly one website which actually has some half-decent designs. Can't remember the name, but you'll know it when you see it.

It's not that piece of crap. haha

Exactly!! Gah! Ever been to the batgear beyond site?

They have some good sites to peek at for lolita stuffs, not all American. The Japanese ones are by FAR better.

Also points to some kick arse sites for corsets and whatever dark clothier you may desire. ;)

Me too on the machine. I figure on learning pencil skirts and totes for starters. I don't want anything costly. I'll deal with that once I get the hang of it.
