I have written at great length on stereotypes in the past, but I can't find any files and I ain't gonna retype it here. Suffice it to say, I think that while you made an assumption, no wrong was done.

These debates all stem from this essential problem: Finding the balance between acknowledging people's differences and being prejudiced.

(Oh geez, my mind is already about 10 sentences ahead of typing and I refuse to make this a long post.) I will just say this: Biological variance is a continuum that tends to form a bell curve. There is always overlap between curves that you compare, but you can still find trends and compare whether the distribution of one is shifted in some direction.

For example, is the statement "Men are taller than women" sexist? No, I would say it is true, depending on how you mean it. When I say something like that what I really mean is "On average, men tend to be taller than women." This does NOT mean that ALL men are taller than ALL women of course.
