Well the boss man who made them famous civil war general Ambrose Burnside (not that I know crap about hair/beauty, just happen to be a civil war nerd) was pretty cool personality wise, and made them famous. Guessing they can't be THAT bad.

Although I'm guessing you'd be hard pressed to find many women that would scream "HOT!" when they see them.
