A friend of mine said that in The Stand, Trashcan Man gets butt-violated with a gun and enjoys it. But I finished the book a few weeks ago and NEVER read that part. I remember Trashcan Man riding with the perv who TRIES to do something sexual, but Trashcan turning him down. So either it was so explicit my mind has blocked it out, or my friend is giving me some sort of sublimal message he wants butt-sex with a gun.

In the original version, which is probably what you read, is missing that part. The "uncut" version, from what I pieced together like 15 years ago asking around and reading comments on Prodigy back in the day. If you do have something that is called "updated and revised" or "uncut version" then its possible you just forgot. Both the paperback and the hardcover cost more than the regular version, which where as of a few years ago, both still available widely, in part due to the below.

There was a debate , a fairly healthy one, that the added stuff made the book worse, while some thought it made it better. Myself I never read the original version so it was hard for me to say. We always like to say "the directors cut" so to speak, should be better, but I think there were far more people leaning toward the original version than the unabridged incarnation. The general idea being that the original version kept many characters "nice" while the additional material almost universally added more violence and "ruined" many of the few beautiful moments in the book.

I remember their being a big stink about King having lied that the "new" version (1990?) of The Stand was already written but had been cut when originally published. Having references in it to things that had not happen yet like Ninja Turtles, "The Regan Years" which didn't start until 1980 and the original published in 1978. Also AIDS is mentioned, not widely known about until the mid 80s.

If I remember right, the guy did use a gun on trash-can, but he did NOT enjoy it.
