I have 6 liquor stores plus a 7-11 within a mile radius of my house. Two smoke shops and two bars....3 eating establishments that serve booze, all within a mile.

Gee I wonder if thats enough booze. =P

Must be nice!! I live in feckin' Timbuktu. The closest places within walking distance are a bit further than I would like to walk, especially unescorted.

If I want anything, I have to call my adopted uncle, my friend Kenny, or a couple of DGNers who live close, to see if they can help me out with a lift into town.

It sucks having the car broken down, this winter. I sure could use it right now! I have the money for the parts, just need to figure out exactly what I need..and I'm NOT a wrench. Besides, it's too cold to work on a car outdoors, at the moment. No one I have approached sounds interested. :p

SO, I'm stuck out in the middle of nowhere (far on the outskirts of town), without supplies, quite often. I miss living in the city for the reasons HH has stated, the most.

I always thought it was funny that there was a bar and 2 liquor stores right across the street from the non-alcoholic dorm I lived in my freshman year of college. Nothing like temptation.

They have FSU surrounded with liquor stores...its almost stupid...actually it is stupid. I mean, a few would be ok but everyone seems drunk almost every night of the week...I have to take sleeping pills just to fall asleep becuase they make so much noise. I play my music during the day and get a fine for noise complaints...yet all my complaints about drunk people during the night get turned down because "thats how things are in 20 and older dorm"...wtf?!?!

We need more smoke shops, with more of a selection. Making your own cigarettes is a big thing now and they can't tax that as much because of the delivery methods. Also, cigars are not supposed to be coated in sugar with lavoring dripped on them...they are supposed to be in a humidor inside of wooden boxes!

I work on cars in the cold...is fun and helps you get done faster!

Yay for dgners who pick up hot chicks stuck in the stix and ply them with alcehols! Heehee!

Someone could easily go broke, trying to ply me with alcohol..

*says the spinner who has drank a guy nicknamed "Haystack" under the table*

Those motherfuckers need to get lives! Seriously...how long have they been raising taxes on this shit and the # of smokers has actually gone UP along with the fact that all this money they are making on taxes not helping at all! It really makes you wonder...especially when in places like England a full ban is put in place yet they can still smoke in all the government bars...

eh well, it gives people out on the res a way to make money :wink

There is actually a liquor store in Wisconsin that is trying to do this. Right now the only cigarettes they sell are Indian brands which...are yucky. However, once our govenor heard news that they are getting into all brands and plan on selling them he started on bill that would only allow Indians to shop there or order from there. If that doesn't work he has a group that "is not funded by the state" that is working on either revoking their right to sell cigarettes by means of sending underage people in there or they are going to find some other way to destroy their business. Seriously, this bastard didn't start a was with smokers...he started genocide and will only settle for us all dying or quitting and the banishment of cigarettes from society...yeah he actually said in a speech that he doesn't just want smoking banned from public places, but also from anywhere in the state...like nobody could smoke anywhere. Yes, there is even a special police unit that is enforcing the smoking ban in Madison...there are no more tickets you just get arrested.

Now, he wants health but on the the alcohol. He has lowered the state tax on alcohol. He has also lowered the fines and punishment for those that sell to underagers because "this is Wisonsin and we have a history of alcohol, just like Europe". He has also reduced the fines and punishment for drunk driving because "its almost impossible to tell who can handle their alcohol, people are always going to do it and unless someone is hurt or killed there is no reason to make a fuss". Right now the tax on alcohol stand at just $0.08 cent per liter, that is actually rounded up. Cigarette tax is $0.08 per cigarette right now and will soon raise by three cents...

Oh and I forgot this too...our govenor is applying a Cigarette Use tax. That is the one way he wants to end the Indian tax free cigarettes that I forgot about. So, you can buy them tax free...but you have to pay a use tax on them...

Sounds like when I lived in Hamtramck... we lived on Joseph Campau at Trowbridge and every block from Caniff to Holbrook had at least 2 bars (one of which we lived above, an experience that convinced me Albania must be hell's waiting room). Not nightclubs or fancy places... just down & dirty neighborhood bars. The traffic at 2 AM every night was like rush hour... never seen anything like it.

That actually works to your advantage. Its like antelopes and lions...the police are the lions, in a big herd, your odds of getting picked out are fewer the more of you there are. :wink
