Rev.Reverence Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 i typed up this big thing i was just about to post but i know that no one but sluagh686 will agree with me, so i leave this there are dumb fucks in EVERY scene. to be perfectly blatantly obvious i feel a lot more welcomed by "normals" and people outside of the supposed "goth/industrial/fetish" scene because *most* of the "normals" have gotten over stupid labels and judgments and still think i'm a cool person just as much if i'm wearing jeans or a corset and fishnets. looking at someone is not a good judgement of their character. who cares if normal looking people are into fetish and who cares if they happen to enjoy darker music. you don't have to have an arsenal of tripp or latex clothing to be into those things. and then that being said, i do agree as i said earlier, with msterbeau that necto just plain sucks because of a lot of people there, and that a lot of other clubs lose their appeal because of the patrons they attract. my two best friends in the entire world are a guy who is the very poster child for the american eagle surfer boy (who also happens to get a hard on for both jazz music and goth rock) and a tree-hugging barefoot hippie who secretly adores emo music and her fiance's rap group. listen to depeche mode... "people are people" right? (sorry that got a lot longer than i meant it to... my point is that people we don't enjoy the company of are not necessarily more normal, they just happen to be douchebags) Oh...we are judging boys who rub on Ladies as douchebags...I think...right? Well...that's what I got from MSTERBEAU's original post. We do not care what they look like...they act like assholes who do not know anything about where they are nor what is/isn't going on there. Just because a Lady is wearing fishnets & a mini does not mean that she wants anybody & everybody to try to fuck her on the dance floor. ...& seriously...what about the chicks that see one of my friends grab my bum (a sign of affection) & decide that they to can do the same? fuck all these behavior...if they want to JOIN the scene..COOL...I'm ALL for it...but SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TRAIN THEM SOMEHOW.....they NEED to find out what the norms are...find out what the tabboos are (every culture has them)... Please don't get me started about the fashion-nazi-goths...they are ass hats...I have a rainbow dread hawk & love tye-dye...I have not worn straight black in almost 10 years...nor do I plan to.
livininxtcgoth Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) Oh...we are judging boys who rub on Ladies as douchebags...I think...right? no i was speaking in general about the general distaste most people here seem to have (or have made statements that would make it seem like they have) for people who look normal. rubbing on someone without permission is a prime example of douchebag behavior. i get just as much lewd commentary and behaviors from punks as goths as "gangstas" as preppies, as yuppies, as hippies, as ravers, as [insert label here]. in such a case all of these people could also be just as easily and much more appropriately called ASSHATS my comment was referring much more so to the responses this post has generated, i happen to agree just about completely with mstrbeau's original post *edited to add that this lewd commentary is not exclusive to when i'm in my fetish/clubbing attire... i get hit on (and of course it's only the asshat hitting on, not the genuine "you are beautiful and/or awesome and i'd like to get to know you" hitting on that bothers me) in jeans, sweats, etc. again by all people from above mentioned sterotype labels Edited March 11, 2009 by livininxtcgoth
Oh_My_Goth Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I cooked up a plan about three months ago, when all of these troubles began. My modus operandi is a bit ugly and crude, and a little bit INSANE, but I stand by it. I'll say no more on the open forum-- except that I would need about four or five more female accomplices. Tormenting chavvy college boys is FUN. Oooo, I'm in
DJ Nocker Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I think what really needs to be said here is that Msterbeau is awesome. that is all. (threadjacked) I agree with several peoples points.

Tacohitts Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 These fakes need to go back to their own places,(sports bars),also those places usually have a dress code as well,so City Club and Necto and a couple of other places should have a Goth dress code as well.

"people are people" right? (sorry that got a lot longer than i meant it to... my point is that people we don't enjoy the company of are not necessarily more normal, they just happen to be douchebags) As others have said, I think the majority of the people here were complaining about the behavior of these people, not their attire. First impressions are based on looks, but if you're a cool person, then anyone around you worth knowing won't care what you're wearing after the first couple of minutes. I get where you're coming from, though. I don't like it when people here imply that all the "douchebags" in the clubs are people who dress preppy or hip-hop, who are just infiltrating the club for the night. Many of them are, but there are plenty of goth "douchebags" in the scene.

My rant is about people's behaviors at Necto and the fact that they are largely outsiders from the scene, though.

FarrIL Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 If this shit continues on 4/20, I'm going to have to pull out my haunted house acting skills, going up to random people and breathing down their necks and yelling at them, saying random stuff. XD
Troy Spiral (13) Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Sorry to hear you had a bad time Mr. B. To echo similar comments above: Over a decade ago I would hear the same types of complaints about the Nectarine (now called Necto) on and off depending on the month or the person or the night. I was a regular there for at least 5-6 years and probably still would be if not for situational realities, not due to any negativity I have toward the place. Similar comments are made about DGN in a similar cyclical fashion (not to the same degree obviously, but often "the good old days of XYZ" or how "XYZ sucks now" is a common refrain. The second time I ever set foot in CC (over a decade ago) there we complaints about how the place was "going to the dogs". Nature of large "open" social groups. They are very fluid. People like to socialize but there are downsides depending on the situation. Even within a particular time frame, night, week or whatever, given our own personal experience at the exact same places the interpretation can be very different. If I'm standing at the bar of X place talking to people all night, while someone else is over in some other area, might night might go very well while theirs could suck, and we both could make statements about how the place was filled with douches or was really nice. Necto is especially fluid as the population there is more transient than at some other places. Sometimes we go to a place and it seems like all we get is grief , while someone else (or even ourselves at a different time) could have the exact opposite interpretation. Often my PM inbox has this same effect lol.
aequorea Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 first of all, DOUCHEBAGGERY!ASSHATTERY! i LOVE it! ok well the word usage, not the behavior it describes. that said, i enjoy the bizarre variety of people who appear at cc! i agree that it's no fun to be crowded by pushy, rude, ignorant jerks. however, there are some cc regulars who have been pretty damn rude on more than one occasion. sadly, douchebaggery is not exclusively the domain of the tourists. anyway, i love the variety. i love the fact that i can show up in jeans and shitkicker boots and a tshirt, or dress up in skirt and corset and heels, and nobody really cares. i love helena's gorgeous lolita dresses and rev's rainbow dreads and bathrobe and the ever-present nekkid girls (why aren't there more nekkid boys, i ask?). i love seeing folks in fetish gear with flesh hooks still in walking past guys in button down shirts, or past my friend sam in his wool cardigan LOL. i would be so so sad if everyone followed some particular dress code! msterbeau, i know you were referring to the behavior and not the fashion... there were just some gothic-superiority tones to some of the comments, and i couldn't help adding my two cents
Riku Namako Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 douchebaggery is dothing new. anyone remember Ohster wow, what a really ignorant thing to say.... Yes, I have met the guy. And to be honest with you, he's not a bad person at all, he just doesn't quite have it all up there. I'm not saying that your experience with him was the same, but you probably should've kept this kinda comment to yourself.

Scary Guy Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I've seen him, I've seen his posts. I'm not sure if the posts were someone acting as him or were actually him. My friend said he was pretty annoying though in person.

asphyxian_doll Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I don't think its the venue but the crowds that gravitate towards them. It is a cycle....and the more people who leave these clubs due to asshatry the less these venues harbor GOOD PEOPLE. Don't boycott the place, boycott the people. Give them hell....make it hard to be douchebags... Best way? Kill them with kindness... If they take up the dance floor one night, get a BIG group to go the next night and smother them with their own medicine. Got men fucking with women? Same as above,....molest them....lol....get a bunch of your gay friends to hassle them back. Worst part....keep a smile going the entire time....and it'll run them out in no time.
asphyxian_doll Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I think all these random fetish troops that popped up all over ruined the club scene..Back when it was mostly Noir doing shows the scene was still mostly underground {the way we liked it} Within the past 5 or so years all these fetish troops popped up & advertised to the world.. Now all the "normals", who want to get away from their mundane lives, show up all over.. This is how I believe it started... Some "normals" went to a fetish show {to be edgey} & they looooved the debauchery.. So then they took a friend to the next one & then they found out about CC & ventured there & then they took some friends there & it all blew up from there. I have a feeling I may get attacked over this.. But I watched it happen... I am an old school performer.. So if any of ya kids wanna try to jump down Me throat about Me observations.. Bring it on kidz. {& Just as a disclaimer.. I am NOT knocking the fetish troops} Yep. Thats the problem. Last fetish show I was at a couple of drunk bastards that just came from a game were there and fucking with me, getting in my way and then acting like they were going to hit me for standing up to them. The one guy almost got a foot up his ass.

I doubt Oh my Goth was judging them based on their clothes.....
Black Jack (1) Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 (edited) Too many people on too small a dance floor anyways... But yeah. They sucked. I don't know about the douche bag factor for I have never labeled someone without there understanding. In today's society you need to mellow out and learn to feats and talk to new types of upbringings which brings me to the current situation just cause someone comes from one way of life like hip-hop doesn't mean there out to ruin a club or night or your personal feelings for that matter it just that there at the point where it is better to get it OUT of the system or be stressed for not doing so Que in the none in sync dancers. If I was enlightened on being a douche it would be my pleasure to dance on the opposite side of the room to ease the pain actually I do it a lot maybe too much dancing. But bringing it to the light of day and actually talking TO the person is another story then just blatantly tossing accusations around is so unbecoming of most at clubs now it is why the drama is killing the crowd come on is a party get over it.
