Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 So, I'm trying the beta of Windows 7 Ultimate out. Wow, this is what Vista should have been. Fast. Very Very Fast. I uninstalled IE8, Media Center and a few other windows components that I am not going to use and it didn;t really have an impact on how fast it is. Cause it's damn fast. No crashes yet, but I am only trying it out for today.. have to hookup my primary hard disk in abit but I will be running it off and on... I 'll let you know what I think later.
Onyx Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 interesting. Does it look like it's going to require more ram added to run well?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 interesting. Does it look like it's going to require more ram added to run well? No, same system requirments as Vista... just way faster.
Oh_My_Goth Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 No, same system requirments as Vista... just way faster. Me 'puter box came w/ Vista, but perhaps it's time to change.. All Rev's music stuff needs special programs to work w/ Vista.. It's a pain in the ass & takes up space.
Shade Everdark Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 As soon as my new rig comes from Newegg, that's the OS I had planned on loading.
Msterbeau Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 More seriously: http://www.pcworld.com/article/152991/os_x..._windows_7.html It's interesting that the next releases for both OS X and Windows are more about performance and under the hood types of enhancements then anything else.
Scary Guy Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Also http://www.openbsd.org/45.html looks promising...
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Well... in my day of testing... I ripped a DVD, encoded it to divx mpeg and burned it to DVD.. while doing that i defragged my second hard drive... had music playing and played WoW and occansionally checked out DGN No pauses or slow downs, no bad DVD, no crashes
