deadbydesire Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Just wanted to know if anyone seen this gem? It was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 10th. Its a swedish vampire movie involving a 12 yo boy, a misfit, who meets a 12 yo girl, a vampire, and their relationship. It's quite unique. It's reallly sad that there is already an american remake is in the works. This movie shouldn't be touched.
freydis Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 There's a thread on it lying around somewhere..... Read the book? It was wonderful....
Bernadette Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I saw it at DFT when it was here. It was well-done. And yes, there's another thread on DGN somewhere for this.
Guest greyhalo Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I am half-way through the book. The DVD came out yesterday. I should be getting it in the mail SOON. I want to finish the book first though.

Joey Deadcat Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Want to get this before the remake comes out.
DJ Nocker Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Want to get this before the remake comes out. You should come come sometime and watch it with me and Necromanta (joey), heck we will get greyhalo (Tracy) in on it too! Im currently finishing watching it, so far I lke it.
DJ Nocker Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Just finished it.... I really enjoyed it, although its not a movie I will watch often as it is fairly slow paced, the movie was good. Its one of the better vampire films of the last 6 years.
JaXson Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Absolutely! Also saw it at the DFT. It's not slow as much as it's deliberate. Can't wait for it on my netflix queue.
Guest greyhalo Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I will probably watch this tonight. I still haven't finished the book though.
freydis Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 i now have it at home..... will watch it when i get there.
hunhee Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) i now have it at home..... will watch it when i get there. That's SOOOO good!!!! I'm sure the book is better, I need like 10 more hours added to every day so that I have more time to read and stuff.. *sighs* my pile is stacking up. Edited March 16, 2009 by hunhee
Guest greyhalo Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Mean Salley and I watched it last night, and we both enjoyed it. I actually liked the pacing of the movie. I was curious to see how the movie compared to the book (still have about 70 pages left). Overall, I thought that the relationship between Oskar and Eli was very sweet and liked the fact that the movie wasn't terribly violent or bloody. The suspense was done well, and I thought the "pool scene" was excellent.

Slept with ghost Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I just got it and had to turn it off. I'll finish later but so far I'm rather let down.
Slept with ghost Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Meh. Every book to movie translation removes things but this somehow managed to keep things in while removing any chance of people knowing what said things are unless they read the book.

It is a pretty slow moving movie, but it's so well done that it couldn't really be any other way. I would definitely watch it again. Next time Greyhalo needs to figure out how to switch the DVD to Swedish with English subtitles. I give this movie 4 1/2 of 5 smashes
st_masey Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I saw it. Loved it. I'm still feeling what it gave me. And now I shall never watch anything with a vampire in it ever again.
TitsMcGee Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I've got it on my netflix list so it'll show up at some point hehe
Shade Everdark Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Perhaps it's because I saw the film before reading the book, but I much preferred the film. The plot felt more cohesive, spent less time with secondary characters, which in this case I found to be a plus; the film focuses in much more on Oskar and Eli, which leaves it feeling like a much leaner and tighter plot. I've still a few pages left to read, so I could change my mind, but I doubt it.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 bad news: there's a Hollywood remake in the works. The guy who did Cloverfield's script is writing this one; apparently, his 1st attempt got shot down, so he's working on version #2 now.
