He dressed up as Thomas Paine. This man has been on Glen Beck, very smart guy. Seriously if you're pissed, check out to see if anyone has scheduled a "tea party" in your area. I know there is one in Lansing on April 15th.

I understand who he was dressed as...but its still weird...then again I have a Starfleet uniform...

Yeah, I am pissed and I have looked for a Tea Party...Lansing would be nice but it's the day after my birthday and I am going to see Children of Bodom...I have sent many teabags in the mail already...also, I take pride in the fact that the new tax on my cigarettes is going towards a childrens fund. Me still buying them shows that I give a shit, and combined with the donations I already make every year to children's funds, it may raise me to "god" status...

That's not a fucking tea party. A tea party generally dictates throwing tea into a river. However that's not even in the spirit of a tea party. They say revolt, but people organizing these things do it behind closed doors and don't announce it on the net. These people only wish they were as cool as the guys in Boston.

My major gripe is peaceful protests |= revolution. These are protests on taxes, nothing more.

With that stated, fuck the government. Who taxes 900% on ANYTHING?

You know why they don't do that to alcohol? Washington is filled with drunks. I don't even smoke and this shit pisses me off.

WTF are you talking about?

That list the times and places of over 300 Tea party's for the 15th of this month. It also list the planning websites on Facebook and contact info for the planners for most of them. Many of them have dedicated websites that are also listed. Nothing is planned behind closed doors, hell, the ones in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda Florida are sponsored by the largest local radio station and are promoted on air.

Also, dumping Tea into a large body of water is part of every event where it's allowed due to environmental laws. Where it is not, some other symbolic gesture is done with Tea.

Also, you should read a few of the websites and find out what the movement is really about. It's not just cigarette taxes.. in fact, that one is far down the list. This movement is about the people in Washington not listening to the people anymore. It's about Pork barrel spending and the government not following the Constitution. It about being ignored by our Representatives. it's about phone systems in Washington being over whelmed with phone calls from We The People, that were admitted to be 100 to 1 against the "Stimulus bill" but it passing anyway.

By the way, the Spirit behind this is the fact that we either want the ass-hats in Washington to listen to We the People or GTFO. It's about unseating every one in Washington that ignores their constituents and replacing them with Real Representatives of the People.

Also Gaf, did you even read what I said?

NOT A TEA PARTY! Also symbolic gestures are crap. They should really be using tea they didn't actually buy to do it.

Everything here is nice and legal and nothing is done behind closed doors.

You think they did that with the original tea party? I'm pretty sure that was behind closed doors and they didn't let anyone except a small group of trusted involved individuals know what they were doing.

Tax on tea is pretty reasonable, so there is no reason to throw any of it into a river.

Also the scientology protests didn't need a catchy name and they went over great.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great cause. But it's false advertising and should have a different name.
