Guest Megalicious Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Any shops in the South-East are you know of that do it? Anyone you can give a recommendation for that does QUALITY work and is experienced? I am looking to get a medium sized piece done. Money is not an issue. I just want to go to someone that has a good rep, and that knows what they are doing. I mean this is going to be on my body for the rest of my life, and I don't take it lightly. Thanks in advance.
candyman Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I don't know any places around here...but I can tell you that if they are good they will use either chemicals or a pencil type instrument...

candyman Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I don't want a chemical burn, I definitely want the cauterizing pen *thinks* Are you looking to have it be a long time thing or is it something where you don't mind if it fades quickly? Cauterizing pens are still kinda iffy as far as I know. Next to chemicals the best procedure would be a small and wedge shaped piece of stone or metal that they heat up over and over agian. There is really no pain at all with those...kinda. Oh and the chemical burn isn't really that bad either...its an old tradition...

Rev.Reverence Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 dude...really? damn I guess it was a little funny though... FACT. Chemical burns CAN hurt! ..matters WHAT chemical reaction you are speaking of.
candyman Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 FACT. Chemical burns CAN hurt! ..matters WHAT chemical reaction you are speaking of. Oh I know they can hurt...but I watched in a shop in Madison and they could get VERY detailed and could even control how "deep" or dark the burn was. Pretty much anything will hurt at a tattoo shop though, so getting anything from an ear piercing to a full back brand will hurt...you just have to decide if it is worth it and how much pain you can put up with. I can put up with alot...I have had three septum piercings, which don't hurt at all, and went through the healing period for each...but they all came out for some reason or another. I have also had many burns from chemicals and hot objects and it isn't that bad. However, I have met with some people that can't even stand an ear piercing or a small tattoo...so it is really the job of the individual to decide if they really want it or not. If she can stand a tattoo I am willing to bet that most scar jobs or brands will not be much worse...but that also depends on location.
StormKnight (1) Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Not my thing, but the area of dead, charred skin from the burn would freak me out with two words: Bacterial infection. I have done enough debriedment and (if really bad,) amputations to value my intact skin. Those areas have to be a haven for bacteria. Areas where blood supply is compromised (as in a burn, where they are destroyed or the area is inflamed to obscure the vasculature bed,) on a warm body is screaming for bacteria to be fruitful and multiply. I am not a real fan of breaking skin in any fashion unless it is life or limb at stake. But that is just me.

My hands were yellow, purple, and black for about two weeks. They felt fine and the doctor did a test and didn't find any problems, but it still kinda freaked me out...
