Hell, any Star Trek fan knows this one.

"The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play." -Captain James Tiberius Kirk, Episode 18, "Shore Leave"

Wow, that was fascinating. The rats that permanently hid really make his point.

Take some time to play or you may find yourself on top of a tower shooting random people.

True, it is well established that leisure is beneficial or even necessary depending on definition of terms. Workaholics can become self-destructive. Unfortunately for 90% of modern mankind spends a huge amount of time on "pure" entertainment, far more than is probably beneficial for the society as a whole. The god-like status of entertainers and the virtual anonymity of (most) scientists / philosophers / intellectuals / politicians etc. attests to this. Something that was not nearly as widespread in previous ages. Entertainment so engrosses us as a culture that for many reality is almost an grudging task that we never learned to enjoy or even an annoying afterthought.

If we are careful to use the more specific definition of "play" that changes a bit. If it necessarily includes physical exertion, education about reality and/or social interaction we might define that as edutainment (such as in the example of the rats above), which I'm an enthusiastic supporter of.

That star trek quote from season one that SK quotes above from season one, was a common thread when I was a kid at home. Depending on were you put the emphasis I either totally agree or totally disagree. (Mindless crap = crap. Simple enjoyment = good.)

Yeah that is cool, but how does it relate to the topic at hand?

I mean as far as the play is involved anyway.

All of the higher mammals play. It is very important for learning social skills, as well as for maintaining physical fitness and mental health.

The Japanese in this very enlightening article is incorrect. FYI.

Didn't really care and I still don't since I can't read Japanese. Someone either just put it through a language translator anyway I'm sure.

Weeaboo? Really?

You had to go there?

Honestly, I have never understood that word...I don't even know the derivation...I can understand like 'wapanese' but I don't understand 'weeaboo'. But I do find it very annoying when I am called that because it's like...really? Really now? That's the best you can do? Never mind that I don't think I fit most of the 'weeaboo' characteristics... :no

      ~~~~~ Whenever I had an interview, I would be honest with the interviewer and actually say stuff like, "I talk a lot when I'm nervous", or I would ask if it was ok to speak candid during the interview or if I needed to stay professional.  Then I would wait to see what direction the interaction would go in.
      I'd probably cry everytime someone had to be disciplined. I'd end up approving everyone's time off request and working all by myself lol.  I do have an interview at a drug rehab, though. I hate interviews, I freeze and take forever to get to the point lol. I kinda want to go to another state and just try something new, though but my kids..maybe they would visit more,  though 🤔 😅 they're busy doing adult stuff and I'm still treating them like they're little.  It drives them crazy. Lol I think I drive them crazy. Lol
