I just did. About 90-95% of all my incoming calls are telemarketers these days. It is kind of frustrating when not only are they wasting minutes on your phone, but also speak in a language you don't even know.

Not sure how many people are aware of this, but the Secretary of State is a major culprit in selling off our phone numbers to telemarketers.

"Telemarketers can suck a dick. For them I like http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html or just keep saying the word "cactus". Answer the phone and say it as the first word, then reply to everything they say with it. One smart girl played along and started repeating it. I gave her kudos but told her I still wasn't buying anything. Eventually I just stopped answering the land line (if it were up to me I wouldn't have one). The DNC list is a joke anyhow because certain groups can ignore it. Most people don't call them out on their crap either when they should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission for being douchebags."

(from an earlier post of mine)

As far as the DNCL goes it's crap because people can still call you for political and non-profit reasons.

However as far as the cellphones go http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp
