the eternal Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Don't laugh. I was at the auto show and the River took my email address. 93.9 Deep.Rock.Reimagined Well I was just thinking they need to re-imagine some of the crap they play. Then I got an email. CLICK HERE The River apparently knows a lot of their music sucks, and they have a survey that's all song clips. You play a clip, rate it, and go to the next. It was a lot of fun, actually. I did a good chunk of it with a bunch of DGNers. BTW, Spook, "Mexican Radio" by Wall of Voodoo was on the list after all. It was on the next batch. Right after Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode and right before All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow See, they're not all bad. But they need our help. More Bowie, Costello, Cure Less Crow, Mayer, Oasis Help the environment. SAVE THE RIVER.
taysteewonderbunny Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I like you, funny man. But see? As much fun as it was to "whoohoo!" the good stuff and pan the bad, there's this awesome thing called Pandora.com where that's all you do until you get radio stations especially tuned to you and your personal likes....and it has a playlist longer than 382 songs!
the eternal Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 First of all, it's 842 song clips and secondly, it's always you, you, you isn't it? (I'm teasing btw) Picking songs that have "quality" Tuned to your tastes. With you in mind. What about the children?? Why won't anyone think about the children? This is not about you or me or the pursuit of perfection in the form of five star songs every time. It is about making music for the masses that doesn't suck! It's about not turning the dial to hear the Cure and Depeche Mode, only to be blindsided by a Kid Rock Sheryl Crow John Mayer block. We need to think beyond ourselves. We need to dream of a world where we can listen to a single radio station, besides NPR, for more than 7 minutes without clawing our eardrums out of our skulls. This is what I think of Doug/Mike/Jim and all those other lame radio stations that play ANYTHING! It's apparently anything but music with quality. But 93.9 has a chance. It is between slim and none, but a chance nonetheless. Do your part to stop noise pollution. SAVE THE RIVER, before it's too late! That is all
taysteewonderbunny Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 But, but! I already listen to plenty of Canadian radio. In French AND English. Well, maybe for the children. But, honestly, how much Raffi can one person take?
Destroit Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Wow...FM radio still exists? I remember The River from waaaay back, probably when I was around 14.
the eternal Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Discover it again! Never mind my hypocrisy as I put in my CDs or NPR. I'm just trying to teach the next generation of 14 year-olds that Sheryl Crow is not the definition of deep, and Shrek is not the only Ohgr out there. Please help.
