Try the Salvation Army. I see them there ALL the time, and for really cheap.

Michigan State has a surplus store where they sell used items from all around the campus... including all manner of computer stuff really cheap. I know that's not real helpful for anyone in the Metro, but maybe Wayne or one of the other unis has a similar store?

Also try your local Freecycle list (it's a Yahoo group). Monitors pop up pretty frequently on the Lansing list. And in the "free" listings on craigslist.
