Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Oh woohoo. Now the Senate can act like the House and pass bills without reading them too. /end sarcasm God I wish for the days of Checks and Balances or the two party system.

Slogo Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 God I wish for the days of Checks and Balances or the two party system. Kinda like i did 6 years ago
Slogo Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and doggone it, people like me"
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Kinda like i did 6 years ago No, 6 years ago we did not have a President and a super majority in both Houses all of the same party. 6 years ago members of Congress actually were given time to and encouraged to read the Bills they voted on.
Rev.Reverence Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Oh woohoo. Now the Senate can act like the House and pass bills without reading them too. /end sarcasm God I wish for the days of Checks and Balances or the two party system. I did not notice 2 distinct & separate parties...not since I looked..I mean, I read it in me H.S. history book, that that's how we do it 'round here...but, I have yet to see it "in action"...I see the Republicrats doing whatever they want...whenever they want. ..hey you guys, I thought Al Franken was a comedian.

We don't have it today either. Sens Byrd and Kennedy are laid up so it's 58-40, two shy of a filibuster-proof 60. Not to mention that you've got both progressives and conservatives WITHIN the democratic party who are not going to vote with the Dems on numerous votes. Because they are not lockstep with the party (2 are independents and aren't even IN the party anyway) and would never just go along because Reid or Obama asked them to. ----------------- As for Franken, huzzah! I'm glad someone was able to reclaim the progressive mantle in MN after Wellstone passed away. Ironically, Franken is going to surprise a lot of you for being more low-key and even a bit more conservative than the fearlless activist the US Senate had in Wellstone.

Though your words do give me a little hope the fact remains that Democrats in Congress are forcing votes on Bills that no one has read.
Rev.Reverence Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 He first became famous as a writer and a performer for the television show Saturday Night Live (SNL) YUP! I was right...we now have a REAL CLOWN in Senate...NOW, we are getting somewhere!
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 That remains to be seen. I will give him credit though, if he sticks to what he is saying in his various speeches, that he is the 2nd Senator from rather the the 60th Dem....

I will give him credit though, if he sticks to what he is saying in his various speeches, that he is the 2nd Senator from rather the the 60th Dem.... I saw Harry Reid on the news alittle while ago, and he claims it is not the democrats intention, with Franken now on staff, to "ram" bills through congress........ BS times infinity !!!!
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Well, it was Reid.. he is a walking ethics violation.
