Jarodaka Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 'Cause the judge may issue an order preventing you from sharing your non-mainstream beliefs with your children. Hmm, is this what conservatives mean when they talk about 'legislating from the bench'?

The_Dark Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Wow... How... That judge so far overstepped his bounds.
Onyx Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 How can he blatantly disregard everything our country is *supposed* to stand for? I hope he wins the appeal. That "judge" does not deserve the title.
The_Dark Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 BTW.. before this is brought up, as I have seen it done on other boards... This man was VOTED into office, not appointed by President Bush.
Soulrev Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Haha yeah typical Indiana redneck attitude for ya.. Lol it's just funny cuz I live in that state and I could see shit like that happening..
paradox Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 isnt it great that we have a separation of church and state? :grin :innocent
Steven Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 I doubt it will really push through...too many people will be up in arms about it. I dont beleive in this decision either, regardless of my own faith I beleive censorship is wrong.
Soulrev Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 BTW.. before this is brought up, as I have seen it done on other boards... This man was VOTED into office, not appointed by President Bush. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah what he said..
dragoth Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 isnt it great that we have a separation of church and state? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is no SUCH thing as separation of church and state in ths US. There is no law and is NOT in the constitution (that says it both ways). It was written in a letter once to congress... that is all! There is no law stating that the church/religion/ect cannot control or influence the state or its departments. Sorry, just a random pet peeve of mine...
The_Dark Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 As Quoted from the Constitution of the United States of America: "...Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exorcise there of..." and that is all.... Let the Myth die....
dragoth Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 The_Dark, you are correct. I ment only that there is no law for the visa-versa
damagedangel Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I was divorced in Indiana in 1999, and me and my ex-husband both told our lawyers we were Wiccan, and the judge was told also. Nothing like this was put into our divorce decree. The thing that I don't understand is that both parents are of the Wiccan religion, so it's not like there would have been one parent telling their lawyer that he/she didn't want for their soon to be ex to be teaching them that religion. I dunno.. that's just crazy. *edited cause I'm an idiot and couldn't remember the year I was divorced*
Homicidalheathen Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 This makes me love my man. I am pretty lucky. 'Cause the judge may issue an order preventing you from sharing your non-mainstream beliefs with your children. Hmm, is this what conservatives mean when they talk about 'legislating from the bench'? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The_Dark Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 What I wanna know is.. if they are both Wiccan.. why is the kid going to a Catholic school?
SomeDanGuy Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 They might just think it's a better education than other schools in the area. Non-catholics went to my catholic school too
FarrIL Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 isnt it great that we have a separation of church and state? :grin :innocent <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's a separation between Church and State?? <<; ;>> Since when?? oO
LadyWindstone Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 All i have to say is that "judge" is in deep shit. after the appeal, they can sue him BIG TIME.
Nerdcore Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 thats pretty messed up.. why cant people just leave other people alone with there choice of religion.. I mean people going around and bashing otehrs religions and such.. just leave them alone.. the judge prolly needed some media attention to ( attention whore)
Guest gothicfaerie Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 I can totally relate. I live in an extremely redneck town in Tennessee where everyone has this I'm holier than you attitude. I have to drive almost 4 hours to find a book store that sells anything on Wicca, and various other unconventional religions. I think they still try to burn witches in this town.
