Msterbeau Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 YOU GODLESS HEATHENS WILL BURN IN H...... Oh wait. That was funny. :-)
ttogreh Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I fear that a few U.S. senators actually do believe this. It's not funny if it's true...
Rev.Reverence Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I fear that a few U.S. senators actually do believe this. It's not funny if it's true... That's not a fear, it is a fact; & it's funny BECAUSE it's true. (you've got to laugh or cry)
Rev.Reverence Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 How about nervous laughter? Does that work? ...if you can't work up a big belly laugh, it'll have to do.
Raev Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 ...if you can't work up a big belly laugh, it'll have to do. It's all I can spare for this topic. A nervous laugh. I work with a guy like that, swears up and down that the earth is only 5,000 years old and insists anyone who doesn't agree with him is an ignorant heathen. Le-sigh.

PBS was just doing a special on the first "North Americans" and they have carbon dating back at least 15,000 years. They're thinking that we could have had pre-clovis people that were here before that, but the scientific community is calling that taboo. Edited July 22, 2009 by AstralCrux

They're thinking that we could have had pre-clovis people that were here before that, but the scientific community is calling that taboo. Why is that taboo? The asteroid that destroyed the fossil record was not perfectly thorough. There is, in fact, plenty of evidence to show that there were pre-Clovis peoples. Please expand and revise your prior comments, AstralCrux.
AstralCrux Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Well to explain the theories on pre-clovis; they think that rather than everyone coming over an ice bridge by Alaska, we may have ended up with early Europeans through boats along the coastline. Personally, I'm not sure why we should question the concept of pre-clovis, but Scientists are being finicky for no reason. They were digging below a clovis trench and found- quite far down mind you- arrowheads/tools.

My coworkers reply to carbon dating - "It's a fake science that is not accurate. They can make someones work boot read to be a thousand years old. Heathens." heh. I love my coworkers.
ttogreh Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Raev... How do they explain away the geological strata? Seriously, if the place was only 6,000 years old, where did all the dirt come from?
Raev Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I'd ask - but my head is starting to hurt enough today. Maybe tomorrow. You should have heard this dudes rant about evolution.
