Slept with ghost Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 what do you think makes a game worth keeping in your collection? extra endings the game being good enough itself to keep and just play over and never get bored new charecters to play as only so much can go so far and i was wondering what everybody thought was the best game with the best replay value
Jarodaka Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Hmm, I was thinking of different games and was going to list them and their addictive qualites, but I realized the one thing that keeps me coming back to a game is the ability to collect things. Metroid Prime: collecting 'scans' of everything. Mario: collecting all the coins or stars. Civilization: 'collecting' technologies or rivals' cities. Virtua Fighter 4: collecting more stupid hats to put on my character. Of course, I don't really make time to play many video games so my favorites are ones that can be beat in ~20 hours of playing.
Black Sunday9 Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Winning Eleven 8 by konami it's a soccer game. The gameplay is massively addictive but you start out in the last division and have to work your way up to the top into the top league each season. At the end of every season your players might retire, they might leave to another team if their contract is expired, your own team might go bankrupt (game over if that happens) and as you move your way up thru the different leagues you are awarded more money to alot to buying better players for your team. it has almost every team in Europe and several from South America and you can make your own teams as well.
Jarodaka Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 ...please tell me this is going to turn into another joke about the French. Friggin' soccer, BS9?

Slept with ghost Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 heh i havent even thought about collecting things but come to think of it that does keep me coming back for more
Fierce Critter Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 My preferred type of game is Playstation RPG's like Parasite Eve, Medieval, etc. I have no interest whatsoever in replaying those types of games. Once I'm through it once succesfully, I don't care what extras they'll give me on round II. Once I'm done, I'm done. I replayed Parasite Eve II just because the first time through, some game glitches & bad moves on my part made beating the end boss impossible. As it were, when I replayed it, I followed a walkthrough 'cause I didn't feel obligated to rediscover everything I'd already discovered the first time through. I'm playing Vagrant Story right now. I can't for the life of me imagine replaying this game. But it's kinda built around people who do like to. You can only get through 80% of the map to complete it the first time through. To complete 100% of it, you have to replay. No thanks. Though I read it's a particularly popular game for that fact. When it comes to more arcade-style games like Mario, MegaMan, Sonic, etc. I like the fact that I can sit down and play for a while for the sake of having fun, and come back to it over and over. I really don't care if I reach the "end" of those games, and so replay might be an option at some point. They're time-wasting brain candy for me.
