Any divers here? Know of any good dive spots? What got you into it? I want to talk to other divers!

I tried it once long ago. I'd love to go again.

I'm working on getting my international open water certification completed. Intend on going until I'm certified as a rescue diver.

Where did you dive at?

Whatever requires SCUBA. :)

I intend to do a Detroit River dive next summer (I don't want to mess with the spring current) and am doing some diving in the Gulf of Mexico in a few days.

I'm Advanced Open Water certified through SSI. I have several specialty stamps and have done enough wreck dives to get that stamp too but still need to take the class and test. The Gilboa quarry down in Ohio is pretty cool. Not much in Michigan. Best dive spot I've ever been to was Bonaire. Then again, it is rated one of the best in the world.

Where did you take your classes at? I'm personally in love with the place in Lincoln Park, The Scuba Center

US Scuba Center in Rochester. I read an article on the place recently and it stated that they were one of the first full service centers with sales, repairs and service, and an indoor pool to offer training. Oh, plus a full service travel agency to book trips and such.

my mom took up diving within the last year. she lives in wayne MI. she goes with dive groups to places in ohio and around metro detroit. i can ask and find out more. I live in ST.Petersburg FL and have wanted to spear fish and treasure hunt. there is alot of dangerous wildlife. i was particularly un-nerved to see an 8 foot tiger shark sink under the water as i turned around. there was 3.5 feet between each eye on its head and it was about 35 feet off to my left in waist deep water. I fish off shore. there are baracuda with eyes as big as small dinner plates that hunt in packs they'll shred anything shiny in the water. i don't trust those narled scared up dolphins at all their eight feet long 350 pounds allways in groups of two or more. the only thing i trust in the water is the manatees they eat carots out of your hand and love to drink fresh water there not pushy and there good luck when fishing. I'll find out where my mom takes leassons. when she goes on these trips most of the other divers are forensic police divers. i guess there is a spot in the detroit river were the bottom is just guns. were if you throw a gun into the river it land on a pile of other guns and know one can tell witch particular gun was for what crime cause there is so many. they said it was like finding a needle in a bucket of needles, no telling wich one is what.
