Well, supposedly those studios with rights to produce certain titles (like Iron Man, Spider Man, X-Men, etc,) will keep those rights. Hopefully, they will be hands off regarding most of the comics

But I do find it mildly disturbing. Will Marvel release a bunch of Disney related comics?

ugh. Just Ugh. *shakes head*

Being a comic dork, I am with SK, I find this mildly disturbing. Then again it could be worse. *nods*

Bigger is never better when it comes to media ownership.

Why does everybody seem to think this will mean the Disneyfication of Marvel? Disney is a huge company with lots of holdings. Disney owns Miramax Films. Remember that Kevin Smith movie "Dogma" that was boycotted by the Catholic church for being evil and even had the character Moobie who was lampooning Mickey Mouse? Yep, a Miramax film, aka, Disney. Disney also owns the distribution rights for Studio Ghibli films and other than handling the dubs, don't change anything. So why would they change Marvel? Disney acquired Marvel because it makes money and changing it wouldn't make money.

Well hopefully this doesnt change the comics any.

I agree with Spook.... Pirates of The Carrabian is essentually a comic book movie without the comic book.

And lets not forget that Tron was Disney.

And for a period of time Disney owned the label that ICP was on.

....the point was not that you like/dislike the band...they are 'fuckin'frieks'...&Disney put them out anyways...'cause the peoples wanted it. Disney looked at the content of the music, not the outward appearance of the band.

This is true.... Disney wants money.... if NOT messing with Marvels formula will make them money... then they won't do it.

...save, they won't let them cuss. (or cuss rarely){certainly no 'fuck'} ;)FAMILY.

I'm just wondering if Marvel Studios will be allowed to continue as is and if there will be a limit to the number of Marvel-based movies put out. Before, Marvel would license its properties to several different studios and you would have different films come out in the span of several months. DC, being owned by Time/Warner, cannot do that.

From what I've read, any existing contracts are still valid, such as Spiderman 4 which will be produced by Sony, and rides and attractions at Universal Studios. Once the licenses expire, then contracts will be up for renegotiation. My guess is Disney will keep more stuff in house after that but Marvel does have it's own movie production company now so that entity will probably handle the direction of most of the movies. It'll be interesting to see what happens but I think this acquisition is more in line of Marvel helping Disney than Disney fucking Marvel.

Pretty much that's my only concern about this - especially with Marvel's ambitious projects lined up from their own movie company.
