Anti-abortion activist shot in front of Owosso High School

OWOSSO, Michigan -- State police at the Corunna post have confirmed a well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed this morning in front of Owosso High School.

The victim's identity has not yet been released but the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., after most students were off the buses and safely inside the building, said Owosso schools transportation supervisor Jayne Campbell.

State police also confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody about 8:15 a.m. at the suspect's home.

Owosso High School secretary Wendy Smith said the students remain in lockdown this morning and confirmed that no students were involved and all are safe with classes going on as normal. The shooting did not occur on school property, Smith said.

Meanwhile, police have completely ringed with police tape a section of North Street in front of the school.

A black car can be seen parked at the corner of North and Whitehaven streets, where a portable oxygen tank is lying in a front yard next to a large sign bearing the image of a baby and the word "Life."

Heard about that.... now both sides of the argument have their own radicals to try and apologize for.... at least more obviously.

Seems after he was done with that murder he went and killed someone else.

Well that is probably the worst way to show the anti-abortion people what one of the options for abortion is...termination.

Which makes me wonder if this was about abortion or something else.

This is true....

What evidence do they have (I wonder) that it was a killing based on an abortion stance?

I imagine that will become more clear as they gather evidence, statements, etc... Who knows... He may have just pissed off some hothead who hated the signs, etc. They're still not sure if the two are connected though, according to the story Mark posted.

seems the shooter may have had grudges with the two guys he killed...he was seemingly after a local real estate agent, too, but got caught before he found the guy. the shooter was a long distance trucker who was only in the Owosso area a few days a month.

"Colbry said the grievances were not known in detail, but that the killing of Mr. Puillon was related to the latter’s anti-abortion protest. But he said, “The defendant was offended by the manner of Mr. Puillon’s message.”"

So maybe not so much about abortion rights either way but HOW they were presented? That makes more sense considering there doesn't seem to be any evidence of an anti-abortion connection to the other guy he shot. Grudges... Sad. Just sad.

Of course I don't condone the shooting of anyone in this manner, but, since, regardless of their message, people who protest outside schools and colleges are a personal pet peeve of mine, I am going to refrain from further comment.

Yeah.. Their "logic" that showing dead fetus images will dissuade people from abortion is seriously flawed. If the message is to preserve life, why wouldn't you show a beautiful infant? Cute is always win. :yes
