Simon Bar Sinister Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 let's begin with industrial's precursor in the music world, musique concrete: ...there may be purists who take offense at this claim; feel free to do so.
Rev.Reverence Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 *humps thread* *gives sotg +1 for cool ideal*

phee Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Check out the soundtrack to this, Forbidden Planet from 1956... definitly some industrial roots here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8aIl03DTzg
Simon Bar Sinister Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) glad to see the interest in this thread! :D check this out - it's Mycenae Alpha by Iannis Xenakis, a Greek composer who died a few years ago. I think you'll like it. perhaps I should explain the visuals: those scrolling drawings are the written notation for the composition. A UPIC machine "reads" the drawing (that's what the vertical line is) and plays the corresponding sounds. Edited September 30, 2009 by SpammerOvTheGods

Simon Bar Sinister Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 I'm glad this thread started the way it did...but it's not meant to be just a "roots of industrial" thread. I'll be posting more of that type of thing, to be sure; I'll also drop in some newer stuff, and I encourage others to do the same.
