56k sucks

So, I downloaded BitComet and learned how to use it, did some searching and found what I was looking for - Season 6 of The West Wing (the season that just ended).

Got the download started - on just the first 2 episodes - and saw that on my 56k dial-up connection, it would take over 80 hours just to get those two episodes.

Damn. And I thought downloading from Kazaa was slow.

Seems you can't disable uploading on BC, and it's frowned upon. Not that it would speed me up enough anyway.

Damn. So close and yet so far.

Freaking rural living. Tried to get DSL but it's not available in my area. This sucks.

Yeah, where I live we can't get cable or DSL.

Thinking of going to high speed satallite internet (as we have a few dishes already around the house) But I guess the equipment to make it work is way spendy.

So it's just 56k for now.

Satellite internet here was something like over $200 start-up and $80 a month - on top of television programming.

No thanks. I already canceled the TV programming and wasn't willing to dish out that kind of $$.

I forget the exact $$$ amount here, but I'm sure it is very close to that.

Just too much right now. I'll suffer with 56k.

A lot of the files I've tried to dowload from torrents took numerous days too, and I'm on cable. It somewhat depends on the popularity of the file
