AVATAR takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. Now, after four years of production, AVATAR, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

We enter the alien world through the eyes of Jake Sully, a former Marine confined to a wheelchair. But despite his broken body, Jake is still a warrior at heart. He is recruited to travel light years to the human outpost on Pandora, where corporations are mining a rare mineral that is the key to solving Earth's energy crisis. Because the atmosphere of Pandora is toxic, they have created the Avatar Program, in which human "drivers" have their consciousness linked to an avatar, a remotely-controlled biological body that can survive in the lethal air. These avatars are genetically engineered hybrids of human DNA mixed with DNA from the natives of Pandora... the Na'vi.

Reborn in his avatar form, Jake can walk again. He is given a mission to infiltrate the Na'vi, who have become a major obstacle to mining the precious ore. But a beautiful Na'vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake's life, and this changes everything. Jake is taken in by her clan, and learns to become one of them, which involves many tests and adventures. As Jake's relationship with his reluctant teacher Neytiri deepens, he learns to respect the Na'vi way and finally takes his place among them. Soon he will face the ultimate test as he leads them in an epic battle that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world.

i agree. i saw it the day it came out at the mjr theater in southgate w/my man at the 4pm show! its totally worth seeing; plus the 3d bonus is awesome!

OMG! This movie was so awesome! ^_^ Not just Braveheart with aliens and guns.... LOL There's also powered armor, alien creatures (and I don't mean the beings, I mean the actual animals)... Besides, in this one, Humans were the aliens. lol

"The story is Pocahontas. Except the Native Americans are ten feet tall, blue, and have a more tangible connection to the earth than in the real story, this ultimately leads to a happier (and more action packed) ending than blankets with small pox."

I would love to sit here and say that I'd feel comfortable with someone under the age of 14 watching this film. Sadly, I don't. Alot of people being riddled with bullets, a lot of people dying and bleeding. At one point, one of the No'vi horses are running through the forrest, on fire. Also, there is an intimate scene. Neither get naked, but its VERY sensual, and can't be mistaken for anything other than what it is. Its a beautiful film, but the action part isn't appropriate for the young ones. When I saw the film, there were a few kids in the theatre, and as soon as the intimate scene happened, and then the fight scenes, I instantly became uncomfortable that they were in the theatre.

As much I find that annoying (and it was), it was visual STUNNING , to say the least. I heart IMAX 3-D. Even if it does make me sick .

I heart IMAX 3-D. Even if it does make me sick .

It was done beautifully. It was like watching a documentary, with how much attention they paid to detail... but the 3D was so distracting that I missed a lot of key information giving through out the film about what was going on with earth, and how they got to that point, and why exactly the air was toxic, ect. That and I had a raging headache at the end of the film. It made me feel like I had sat too close to the screen even though I was in the very top row, sitting right under the projection window. :\
