asphyxian_doll Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I'm an avid lover of makeup and just aesthetics. I love making others look gorgeous, as well as working on my own skin, body, hair, face (definitely face) as well as work with bright colors, and experiment with makeup. I'm hoping to succeed at obtaining enough financial aid, as well as a transfer from the Wal-Mart I'm at to attend the Douglas J Aveda Cosmetology school for my certification in aesthetics, full body wax's, make up artistry, spa therapy, and salon owner know how. DouglasJ I'm actually fishing for some advice on housing, transportation, and financial aid, as well as anything else you guys might know about school and the balancing act with school and work. Really anything would be so appreciated. Opinions? Advice? <3 I can haz plx?
TitsMcGee Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I'm going to warn you, it's not going to be easy. The state rules and regulations are particularly boring. And drama will ensue any place you have lots of women in one small area. Other than that have fun
Guest Megalicious Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Which one are you planing to attend? (city wise). I am not sure about any of the FA guidelines, but it looks like there are many scholarships available for current students, but not new students =(
asphyxian_doll Posted March 25, 2010 Author Posted March 25, 2010 I'm thinking east lansing. >.> And yeah I'm prepared for estrogen drama. It happens....>.> I'm used to it. Wal-mart is a hen house!
TitsMcGee Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Most schools allow you to do payment plans. As for like scholarships, you'd probably have a better chance finding one if you went through the whole cosmetology program. It's longer but you are also more hire-able then too.

TitsMcGee Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Yeah good point. hrmmmm thank you! Glad I could help. I just recently went through the nail technician program at a local school, and I regret not doing the cosmetology program because I'm not very hire-able. Also I'm going to warn you that once you finish it's not cheap to take the state test, you have to pay $39 to the state to register, then $144 to the PSI testing people to take the tests, then $24 for the your license for the first year, then $48 to renew every 2 years.

Its an investment I am really willing to make. I tend to put in as much as I expect to receive with jobs, and goals. Nothing ventured, Nothing gained And I have a true passion for the art. That is very useful information, I will save money ahead of time! Danke yet again honey. <3
