I am drawing a blank for my pre 60's horror scientist stuff.

well, you have a question and a guess left...try narrowing the field down...if its a whale, make it a guppy

I honestly cannot think of anything that fits that to my knowledge :(

the only thing that's comming to mind right now is the day the earth stood still... but they already did a remake of that...

Not familiar with....dude, seriously??? You are so not getting any play from any goth chicks with the Bride tattooed on their arm for that slip-up.

1) is this a real place? (as in not fictional) (NO)

(and yes, at the same time...you are making this way too difficult all ready...or maybe I was picking this place...it would be in your interest not to dwell on this aspect too much, as it means little)

01) does this location exist in real life or is it totally fictitious? (YES, I'm sure it does)

There, I gave you a second chance at question one...now move on to other questions not about its factualness...it is incredibly hard to answer that question with a strict yes or no...it is MOSTLY real.

(I can feel a migraine coming on early...damn my Bohemian upbringing..."can something really be...real?" :X )
